I just had an incredible experience at the GDG Hudson Valley Open Data Hackathon 2025 🚀, where the theme was "Unlocking Public Data Insights with Open Source and AI" 🤖at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I was honored to mentor a talented team working on the SmartPredict project, which uses open data and AI to predict effective treatments for patients based on regional health trends 🏥. The event was a fantastic opportunity to connect with some amazing people from the IT industry, including professors and inspiring speakers 📚. I particularly enjoyed sessions on Earth Engine and geo-spatial services, led by Ozzy C. 🌎, and AI-Powered Location Insights using the Google Gemini API, led by Anuj Tyagi 📍. My team, consisting of Shreenidhi Srinivasan, Soumeek Mishra, and #RobHayney, did an outstanding job, securing second place in the hackathon 🏆. I couldn't be prouder of their innovative ideas and teamwork! 💪 A huge shoutout to the organizers Yulia Ovchinnikova, Ilene Marcus, #John Sturman, and Begimai Zhumakova for putting together such a fantastic event 🙏. Other notable projects included Safe Walk, led by Hemanth Macharla, @Dhanvant Sai, @Yashwanth, and mentored by Tahreem Arif 👍. The event was judged by industry leaders Daniel Raj , Anuj Tyagi, Karl Urich, @Santhosh Borse, @Josh Gurwitz ,@John Sturman and it was great to see the support from RPI professors like #WesTurner #JohnSturman  and  for open-source projects 🎉. It was truly a great evening filled with innovative ideas and inspiring conversations 💡. Looking forward to more such events! 🚀 Thanks to sponsors New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC), O'Reilly and Marist University
