Information and tips for businesses in the EU

About us

The European Commission provides information for citizens and businesses in the EU. The Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs (DG GROW) works to strengthen governance and ensure an open, seamless, and resilient Single Market. Our focus spans from supporting EU economy competitiveness and growth to fostering entrepreneurship and SMEs. We aim to digitise and decarbonise European industries and small businesses, contributing to a greener, more digital, and resilient economy. As part of this, Your Europe Business acts as a single digital gateway, informing SMEs about rights, obligations, opportunities, formalities and procedures concerning doing business in the European Single Market. As an important resource for reaching those goals, the Your Europe website provides accessible, straightforward, and clear information about a wide range of rights and obligations in the EU for businesses.

Yesterday I took part in the Renewable Hydrogen Summit organised by Renewable Hydrogen Coalition. The EU regulatory framework provides a clear signal for investors to help them take their investment decisions. It is now time to reinforce the offtake side of the equation, through the Industrial Accelerator Act, the Public Procurement legislation revision and the reinforcement of offtake drivers such as those addressed in the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan. Without an infrastructural backbone, achieving our targets for clean hydrogen supply and use in industry will not be achieved. Our H2Infra #IPCEI will help 2.500 km come online. We need to continue building towards full deployment, and the list of Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMIs) published on 1 December provides a further step in the right direction. Clean #hydrogen is a nascent industry, and 50% of the cost of clean hydrogen is made up of electricity costs. So it is clear we need to continue supporting the production projects in the EU. The Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework, the Hydrogen Bank, the new Industrial Decarbonisation Bank are opening up new possibilities.

🛡️ Our proposals to better control #DrugPrecursors are here: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eAwKNV8g 💊 Drug Precursors are indispensable for industries and products like pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, fertilisers and plastics. But criminals can also use them to produce illegal drugs such as amphetamines, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin. We’re aiming to both curb illegal manufacturing and help chemical industries thrive in legitimate trade through: 🛂 Rapid response and detection for customs and law enforcement. Real-time seizure reporting is already reducing the detection time of illegal precursors by 4-18 months. 🔬 Increasing the number of designer precursors - which have no known legal use - to be to be controlled by businesses and authorities. Their legitimate use in research and innovation will be maintained. ✅ A digitalised, streamlined system to reduce administrative burdens and costs for industries like pharmaceuticals, construction, food, and cosmetics.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗼. Today we celebrate a major step forward in protecting what makes the Union unique: its 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, its 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆, and the 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 who keep our traditions alive. From 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 in Ireland, to 𝗜𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗷𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 in Slovenia, to 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀ł𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗲𝗰 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 in Poland, countless European products tell a story that cannot be separated from their place of origin.
