Stop guessing your next move—let a Personal Development Plan guide your progress. A while back, I mentored a professional named Rahul, who felt he was being repeatedly overlooked for promotions. We conducted a competency mapping session and discovered a key gap in his ability to work cross-functionally and lead diverse teams. 🧩 Rather than feeling discouraged, Rahul saw this as an opportunity. We built a Personal Development Plan (PDP) to close those gaps. By enrolling in relevant courses and taking on cross-departmental projects, Rahul not only improved his skills but also earned the promotion he had been aiming for. 👉 What is a Personal Development Plan (PDP)? A PDP is a roadmap for your career growth, detailing the specific skills you need to develop to advance in your role. Here are the Key Sections every PDP should include: 💢Self-Assessment: Identify your current strengths and areas for improvement based on feedback or a competency mapping session. 💢Goal Setting: Set clear, measurable goals for what you want to achieve in your career (e.g., leadership skills, cross-functional collaboration). 💢Action Plan: Outline the steps you’ll take to close the gaps, such as enrolling in courses, seeking mentorship, or participating in projects. 💢Timeline: Assign deadlines to each action item to track your progress and stay on course. 💢Evaluation: Regularly assess your progress through self-reflection or feedback from peers and supervisors. 💡 Key Action Points: ⚜️Use competency mapping to identify specific skill gaps. ⚜️Develop a Personal Development Plan to close those gaps. ⚜️Engage in practical experiences like cross-functional projects or targeted training. Feeling stuck in your career? Start building your personal development plan today and tackle those skill gaps head-on! #CareerDevelopment #SkillGaps #PersonalDevelopmentPlan #LeadershipSkills #CompetencyMapping #ProfessionalGrowth

Goals are just wishful thinking without Systems – It is Systems which really determine your Success James Clear the reputed expert on Habits says ““You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” While goals inspire, it is your daily systems and habits that lead to outcome. Clear says if you wish to make lasting changes in your life, do not depend just on willpower or motivation. Concentrate on building better systems that support the change. Most ambitious professionals chase goals like distant mirages, exhausting themselves without real progress. There are many who spend 60-hour weeks hustling, thinking pure effort would catapult them to leadership. Instead, they may burn out, stuck in the same position year after year. The game-changer? Building deliberate and robust systems. Think of your career like a precision machine. Goals are the destination, but systems are the engine. It's not about working harder, but creating repeatable processes that compound your efforts. For one of my coachees, that meant designing a 30-minute morning routine: strategic networking, skill development, and reflective planning. These micro-actions gradually reshaped his professional trajectory. Your systems protect you from the real enemy: random, unfocused effort that leads nowhere. A key step you need to take is not just define the outcome with the metrics linked to your goal, but also define the sub-steps with process metrics that measure your progress. For instance, if your outcome is to secure a director-level role in 18 months, you need to break it down to intermediate steps with process metrics: Strategic visibility: Lead 2 cross-functional strategic initiatives with measurable business impact: - Leadership skill development: Attend advanced leadership training - Network expansion: Build strategic relationships with 15 senior leaders across the industry - Thought leadership: Publish 3 industry-recognized articles or present at reputed conferences Start today. Choose one daily 30-minute block and design a system around building a specific professional skill and connection strategy. Watch as consistent, small actions transform your career landscape. #LifeCoach #CareerCoach #Leadership

There are so, so many questions right now around AI, jobs, and the future and I can tell you for sure, it’s scary for everyone. Nobody has it all figured out. Even with the work I’ve done exploring AI-automating parts of my design workflow, playing with new tools, and testing how far I can go with or without code, I still have concerns. (See video of me playing with lovable) I've been personally reevaluating my career and skills, asking myself: Will I still fit into what’s coming? Will I still be relevant in the future this industry is moving towards? Here’s what I’ve figured out and what I believe we all need to start doing if we want to stay relevant and ahead. And this isn’t just for designers. This is for anyone, regardless of what you do. 👉🏽 Learn how emerging technology is changing your job. Start with your own role. Look at the title you carry now. What does it mean today? What will it mean two years from now? If you're a designer, start asking: → What does the future designer look like? → What changes are already happening around me? → What roles are disappearing, and what new ones are showing up? Start observing. Learn what’s evolving. Because the definition of your role is already shifting and you need to know where it’s heading! 👉🏽 Pin down what you actually want - In a fast-moving world, clarity is power. → Where do you want to sit in this new landscape? → What kind of work energizes you? → What kind of skills do you want to be known for? You don’t need to do everything. You only need to define what your version of the future looks like. 👉🏽 Draft an action plan. - Now that you know where you want to go, how do you get there? → What skills do you need to learn or sharpen? → What tools should you start exploring? → What types of projects or roles will move you closer? Your roadmap doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be intentional. If you do these 3 things well, I can tell you for sure that you will have future proof your career to the extent that you wouldn't need to worry about anything thing coming up. everything else, every shiny new tool, every trend, every panic tweet will start to feel like noise cos you have defined what you want and how you will get there. You are welcome! I'll see you in the future! Samuel Lasisi

Hey there, it’s me, your coach Nina, how are you today? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the exciting but vast possibilities in your career? Society, your parents, friends, strangers on social media, and even your own expectations have all been suggesting paths you “should” take professionally. If you're intellectually curious and enjoy learning, you likely have a strong drive to grow already. You might already have some ideas about where you want to go and how to get there. However, with endless possibilities and only 24 hours in a day, it's important to have a focused and sustainable approach to your career development, one that prevents overwhelm and burnout. Here are some strategies to consider: 1️⃣ List out your career goals: What do you really want in your career? Is it money, title, creative freedom, influence, fame, or making an impact? In my early career I wanted to get promoted because the society says so, but after a few years I started to optimize for learning new experiences (hence jumping from corporate to startup to stand up a new team.) 2️⃣ Figure out your why: understand why you want to achieve something adds meaning and boosts motivation. Are you aiming for FIRE (financial independence to retire early), seeking respect as a manager, or craving intellectual exploration? 3️⃣ Define success: know your destination helps you figure out what resources or skills you need to get there. For instance, aspiring to be a people manager might require learning how to inspire others. 4️⃣ Identify the resources you need: Just like planning a trip, you need to know what to pack for your career journey. Determine the skills or knowledge necessary for your dream role. 5️⃣ Choose how to learn: Different people prefer different learning methods—reading, visual cues, podcasts, or hands-on experience. Find what works best for you and experiment if you're unsure. 6️⃣ Practice: Apply your new skills whenever possible. Shadow others, volunteer for projects, and actively develop the competencies you need. 7️⃣ Reflect regularly: Set a monthly reminder to assess your progress and adjust your strategies if needed. 8️⃣ Seek accountability: Remember the saying, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." Find a mentor, friend, or a coach friend to support and hold you accountable. What strategies have you used or would you recommend to feel less overwhelmed and more empowered in your career growth? #careerdevelopment #professionaldevelopment #midcareer

Set a goal and make a plan for your career growth and your learning path. It doesn't matter if all the things are not known, just make a rough plan anyway. In the early part of my career, I used to just go with the flow. I would find something interesting, learn it, master it, and then move on to the next thing. I still carry an open mind towards learning, and I'm certainly not a natural planner, but I've learnt that a plan can help focus your efforts towards a worthwhile goal. I used to avoid planning because the future was always unknown. Yes, the exact future is unknown, but without a plan, you have no effective way to prioritise your actions today. Don't think of a plan as being restricted, it's more a conscious framework to take decisive action when decisions are needed. This can be useful to decide whether to take a new role for example. It's a great example because sometimes this can be a tough decision to make. Most likely you will also be asked in interviews what your career goal and plan looks like! Good recruiters and hiring managers will ask you because they want the role to be a good fit on both sides. If you have a goal and a plan, it's much easier to make decisions. If you think an opportunity aligns to your goal and career plan, then go for it. Clearly articulating your desire for the future can also be a huge benefit when engaging with mentors or senior leaders. Make your career goals and plans known to those who could be able to help you. Craft your plan with your mentors and senior leaders in mind. How can they help you? They're there to help, and making the most of the time and effort they put into you will result in a more satisfying and successful working relationship. You'll always have imperfect information available to you, and sometimes things can go a bit sideways, but taking intentional steps to achieve a defined goal will eventually get you to the target.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. — Steve Jobs. Yesterday, while stuck in Bangalore traffic 🚗, I received a message from a young HR manager asking for advice on certifications. His goal? To become a master facilitator in 10 years. 🎯 With some time on my hands, I decided to give him a call. As I heard him speak, I found myself reflecting on how we often chase titles, certifications, and predefined career paths. 🎓 A noble vision, no doubt. But I couldn't help but ask: Why is certification so important? More intriguingly, How can you ensure this certification aligns with a broader, more dynamic career vision? And finally, What 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 do you want to create? Certifications are indeed powerful tools—they open doors, validate skills, and position us as experts. But in today's rapidly evolving world, it's crucial to think beyond! What if your career wasn't confined to just one role or industry? Most people think career success comes from making the perfect decision. It doesn’t. It comes from making timely, values-aligned ones. Especially when the next step feels unclear. One of my clients, a brilliant VP, spent 3 months stuck on a single choice: “Do I speak up about being overlooked, or wait for my work to speak for itself?” She called it strategic patience. But it was really fear disguised as overthinking. We ran it through this framework. She made the call. Six weeks later, her promotion was fast-tracked. She was finally seen, heard, and most importantly, included. Because here’s what I tell every high-achiever I coach: You don’t need more time to decide. You need a better way to decide. Try the 2-Minute Decision Framework™ (Career Edition): 1. QUICK DECISIONS → Handle it NOW For low-stakes tasks that clog your mental bandwidth: → Can you respond to that email in < 2 minutes? → Is the request low risk and easily reversible? → Are you spiraling on something that just needs action? ✅ Do it. Momentum builds trust and confidence. (Your career doesn’t stall in the big moves, it drips away through tiny indecisions.) 2. TEAM DECISIONS → Resolve it TODAY For collaborative work or project bottlenecks: → Who’s recommending this approach? → Who’s doing the work? → Who’s accountable for the final call? ✍️ Assign roles. Align expectations. Move forward. (Most team confusion comes from no one knowing who’s driving.) Use this anytime you’re: – Leading a cross-functional project – Navigating performance reviews – Building team trust through shared clarity 3. CAREER DECISIONS → Make it THIS WEEK For decisions that affect your growth, visibility, and voice: Use the 3–2–1 Method: → 3 options: Brainstorm career paths, scripts, or solutions → 2 perspectives: Ask two mentors, not the whole internet → 1 call: Choose the path aligned with your long game 🎯 Clarity > complexity. Every time. This works for: – Deciding whether to advocate for a raise or promotion – Considering a lateral move for growth – Navigating visibility or speaking up on tough issues The truth is: courageous careers aren’t built on perfect plans. They’re built on small, aligned decisions made with intention. That’s C.H.O.I.C.E.® in action. So here’s your coaching moment: 🔥 Pick one decision you’ve been avoiding. Run it through the framework. Make the call within the next hour. Then ask yourself: What changed when I finally decided? ❓ What’s one career decision you’ve been sitting on too long? Share it below, or DM me, and we’ll run it through together. 🔖 Save this for your next “Should I…?” moment 👥 Tag someone who needs this framework in their toolkit Because alignment isn’t found in overthinking. It’s built through C.H.O.I.C.E.®. ➕ Follow Loren Rosario - Maldonado, PCC for tools that actually work in real life. #CareerCoaching #LeadershipDevelopment

One of the talks I’ve given to a few teams internally at Microsoft is “PMing your career”. Mid-career is the perfect time to step back, see yourself as a ‘product,’ and start managing your career with intention and strategy. Here are 5 axioms I use as part of the frame: ➡️1. Treat your career as a Product with a strategic fit: Every high-performing professional has a unique value proposition. Regularly assess your Personal Product-Market Fit (PMF) to ensure that your strengths, skills, and how you’re positioning them align with the needs of your industry and your company. Strong careers, like great products, adapt to stay relevant and strategically fit. This helps you identify places you might need to grow too. ➡️2. Your resume is (kind-of) Product Review Document (PRD): Like a PRD highlights a product’s features, your resume should capture your top achievements and core skills. Keep it current and aligned with your goals, showcasing how your career product has evolved. ➡️3. Use feedback as your career “Customer Review”: Just as products thrive on customer feedback, your career benefits from input from mentors, peers, and leaders. Thoughtfully incorporate this feedback to stay aligned with your goals and make strategic improvements. ➡️4. Set a career Roadmap: Map out your career with a focus on strategy and clear goals. These checkpoints – skills to gain, connections to build, and roles to pursue – keep you moving toward your vision of success and position you for future opportunities. Ask others who have already taken the path what the checkpoints are. ➡️5. Embrace phases as part of your strategy: Like product lifecycles, careers have phases. In early roles, focus on mastering foundational skills; as you advance, lean into influence and decision-making; and eventually, hone discernment for opportunities. Each stage strengthens your overall career strategy. Hope this helps you today

I frequently get questions from job seekers who want to change careers, but don't know what types of roles to target. Time and time again, one of my favorite suggestions is to leverage AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini. The reason I love this suggestion is because it's a simple, but effective, starting point... Just use a prompt like: 🔷 "Based on the following resume, what are some different career options that could be a good fit for my skills and experience?" 🔷 "I've been a [Job Title] for the past 10+ years, but I'm looking for a change. What are some jobs that I could pivot to?" 🔷 "I have a degree in [Major] and am highly skilled in [Top Technical or Transferable Skills]. What are some jobs that could align with my background?" ➡ Any one of these prompts could give you some solid options to explore. Again, this is a good starting point... From there, you can pick ones that sound interesting to you and start reading job descriptions or conducting research to narrow down your target list. After that, you can aim to identify and follow industry thought leaders, conduct informational interviews with people in your new target field, and discuss creating a career change action plan with a mentor or coach. Either way, determining where to begin is often the biggest obstacle for would-be career changers, so why not leverage AI tools to help you get started? #careerchange #aitools #chatgpt #googlegemini
