Completeful, a print-on-demand platform serving over 1,000 sellers on Etsy, Amazon, and Shopify, integrated Photoroom's Image Editing API to automate product mockup creation directly within its platform. “Photoroom has already changed our business. We’re growing 100% year-over-year, and we haven’t even fully realized its potential. I’m confident that as we continue to integrate new features, Photoroom will help us drive even greater growth and innovation."
Josh Goree, CEO, Completeful
Josh Goree started Completeful in 2016 with a straightforward idea: handle manufacturing and fulfillment for online sellers so they could focus on growing their businesses. The platform now offers over 100 customizable products, from engraved whiskey glasses to personalized doormats, and serves over 1,000 sellers across Etsy, Amazon, and Shopify, letting individuals build online businesses without warehouses or upfront stock.
But every one of those products needs photos that sell. And for years, getting those photos was the slowest, most manual part of a seller's job.
When every new product meant weeks of photography
When a seller on Completeful wanted product photos that stood out, they had to order a physical sample of the item, wait for it to ship, then stage and photograph it themselves for every setting they wanted to test.
Despite their best efforts, the results were often poor-quality photos, and introducing a new product took two to three weeks. Relying on static backgrounds and traditional photography also capped how many listings a seller could realistically create.
"Before Photoroom, when we introduced a new product, the process would take anywhere from 2-3 weeks and require so much work. But now, sellers don't have to wait for the perfect lighting or the perfect setting. Photoroom takes care of all of that. And the results are perfect every time."
— Josh Goree, CEO, Completeful
On marketplaces where many sellers offer similar products, the photo is often what decides the sale. A distinctive image gets the click; a generic one gets scrolled past.
Completeful needed a way to give sellers professional product images at the speed they create listings, inside the platform they already used.
From one product photo to a thousand marketplace-ready images
The team explored several options first, but the integration processes were overly complex, and in the meantime Completeful was advising clients to use external tools for their mockups.
"With other solutions, you're very limited on what you can do. They're not changing the background; they're just editing the photo they have versus what we have now with Photoroom, where we can provide one standard photo and generate 1,000 different photos for every single client. That's unmatched."
— Josh Goree, CEO at Completeful
Then Derek Murphy, Completeful’s CTO, found Photoroom's Image Editing API, which meant that mockup creation could finally live inside the Completeful application itself.
"I remember the first time Derek showed Photoroom to me and I entered a prompt like, 'I want a photo of this whiskey glass on a counter with a leaf,' and Photoroom generated a GREAT photo of a whiskey glass on a counter with that leaf. I was like, holy cow, this is going to change the game for us. And it 100% has. It's been amazing."

How Completeful uses the Photoroom API
Today, a seller provides one standard product photo, and the API does the rest inside Completeful's platform.
Sellers generate image backgrounds matched to the audience they're selling to, such as a beach, a golf course, or a wedding, so a single product can appear in whatever setting fits the niche.
The API edits, centers, pads, and resizes each product image automatically, so every image meets marketplace requirements without manual adjustment.
Completeful generates up to 1,000 different images for every client using a single photo.

For sellers whose entire business depends on volume, the speed matters as much as the quality.
"Our customers are individuals selling to consumers. They're trying to generate as many photos, as many listings as they possibly can, and get them out there. They need to attack every single niche, every single market that they can. Automating their product imagery workflow and greatly enhancing the quality of that imagery makes all of this so much simpler for them."
— Derek Murphy, CTO at Completeful
The result: Sales doubled and launches dropped from weeks to minutes
Since integrating Photoroom's Image Editing API, Completeful has seen measurable improvements across its business:
100% year-over-year increase in sales, driven by higher-quality, customizable mockups that help sellers' listings stand out in competitive marketplace categories.
Product launches reduced from 2-3 weeks to minutes, with no physical samples or photoshoots required.
Three of Etsy's top 10 stores now run on Completeful, ranking for competitive product categories, including doormats and whiskey glasses, with first-page search results filled with Photoroom-edited images.

Completeful is now exploring additional Photoroom capabilities. The team plans to expand its use of Photoroom with scene generation and more dynamic mockup options, to give sellers even more creative control over their product visuals.
"It's like creating a Tinder profile, right? You want to showcase yourself in the best possible light and stand out. That's what we can do with Photoroom; we are basically making the best Tinder profile for our entire catalog of products."
— Derek Murphy, CTO, Completeful
Photoroom is the AI product photography platform that enables e‑commerce platforms to replace physical sample photography with automated, marketplace-ready mockups inside their own platforms. For Completeful, it has meant sellers turning one photo into a thousand listing-ready images, and a business that doubled its sales in a year.
