The last-known living thylacine died in 1936.. A beautiful marsupial, gone too soon. Throughout the Australian mainland, people still claim sightings of the Tasmanian tiger. As humans, it’s touching that we hold out hope that the thylacine is still out there.. a certain kind of denial.
Did you know related species of thylacine have fossils dating back to 30 million years ago? While the thylacine we know and love only appeared 4 million years ago. Still a long time though, I’d say !! Similar to Tasmanian devils, the thylacine can open their mouth at an almost 90 degree angle! What a smile! ♥
