The Ladies in Blue
The Ladies in Blue Fresco is a work discovered in the ancient Knossos Palace on Crete, home of Minos and the Minotaur. Their intricate jewelry, elaborate curls, and detailed garments are evidence of an artist more skilled than this outwardly simple design suggests. This one took by far the longest for me to replicate, because each line in the original was so intentionally painted. I've tried to also correct a few mistakes in the reproduction done by Evans, like the hand in the direct center of the design--the fingers barely even matched the angle of the palm, but he pasted them on anyway, so I based my version of the hand's reconstruction on the angle of the palm.
