Iris III
The purple iris in my dad’s border was something I documented because its colour had such a deep, velvety richness that it drew my eye every time I walked past. When I recorded it, the flower was fully open—its upright standards standing tall while the falls curved outward, each petal marked with a soft, golden beard at the centre. I noted how the petals had a slight sheen in the light, their purple shifting between inky depth and brighter violet depending on the angle. The sword‑shaped leaves rose in clean, vertical lines around it, giving the bloom a strong, architectural frame. Adding it to my notes helped capture a moment of bold, elegant colour in the border.
