    Frankfurt Dom Romer
Very proudly, our daughter took us to the Dom-Römer section of Frankfurt, Germany, anew area built between the old church (dom) and the Romer section of the city. This area was ruined in WWll and has recently been rebuilt using the old city plans It aims to give the old town quarter between the Römerberg square and the Paulaner Cathedral (Dom) new life. The old city was thoroughly changed in 1904 by hewing several aisles for wide streets into the medieval cluster small alley ways and small homes, clearing the way for a tramway line through the historic center. Due to the heavy bombing of Frankfurt am Main in World War II with many timber-framed buildings, most of the city's old town was destroyed. The efforts to rebuild parts of it began in the 1950s with the Römer city hall, and parts of the surrounding Römerberg square. Most of the rebuilding is now complete with new businesses, restaurants and apartments making it a very vibrant area of the city, especially at night. This building contrasts with the old church next door, but you would be pressed to know the building has been rebuilt in the old style and looks like it has always been there.
