Cold Weather Advisory Letter To Parents
Cold Weather Advisory Letter To Parents
Mr. Darryl Beck, Principal; Mrs. Jacqueline Slowey, Vice-Principal Mrs. Lynn MacDonell, Office Administrator
January 23, 2013 Dear Parents/Guardians: Environment Canada is forecasting extremely cold temperatures for the next few days, reaching as low as -29 C in some areas with the wind chill making it feel like -39 C. Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately. At Viscount today, we cancelled recess and other outside activities to ensure all students remained warm and safe. We are monitoring the situation and will continue to keep students indoors for recess if we believe conditions warrant it. We will make this decision in consultation with local health units. We will also ensure that, when students arrive at school and conditions warrant it, they enter the school immediately to limit their exposure to cold temperatures. We will closely monitor the arrival of children to ensure that all students arrive on time. If a student does not arrive at school by their usual time, we will contact the students parent/guardian to ensure they are safe. Please review Environment Canadas document Wind Chill Hazards And What To Do and the Frostbite Fact Sheet included with this letter to ensure your child remains warm and safe. Thank you for your help. Sincerely,
