Basic parts of

computer
1 MONITOR - is an output device that displays information in pictorial form. A
monitor usually comprises the visual display, circuitry, casing, and power
supply.
2 System Unit - The system unit, also known as a
"tower" or "chassis," is the main part of a desktop
computer.
CPU - Central
Processing Unit
3 Keyboard – It is used to enter the data into the computer by
typing or pressing its keys.

4 Mouse – It is a hand-held device that is used also to
enter the data into the computer by clicking its
buttons.

Computer Processing Steps
1. Input – is the data entered into the
computer.
2. Processing – is a method in the
computer analyzes or thinks on
what to do with the input data that have
entered.
3. Output – is a result produced by the
computer.

4. Storage – is storing or saving the output


in a storage media for future use.
Different Devices
Input devices – is a piece of equipment used to provide data and control
signals to an information processing system such as a computer or
information appliance.
Output Devices - is any piece of computer hardware
equipment which converts information into human readable
form. It can be text, graphics, tactile, audio, and video.
Input / output devices – are peripheral devices that
do dual function as input device and as output device.
Storage Devices - is any type of computing hardware that is used for
storing, porting or extracting data files and objects. Storage devices can
hold and store information both temporarily and permanently.
Internal storage is a term typically applied to any internal
computer or system hardware component dedicated to the
storage of data.
External storage comprises devices that temporarily store
information for from computer to computer.

What is a
Hardware?
Hardware is a comprehensive term for all of the physical parts
of a computer, as distinguished from the data it contains or
operates on, and the software that provides instructions for
the hardware to accomplish tasks.
What is a
Software?
Computer software, or just software, is a collection of computer programs
and related data that provide the instructions for telling a computer what to
do and how to do it. In other words, software is a conceptual entity which is a
set of computer programs, procedures, and associated documentation
concerned with the operation of a data processing system.
What is a Dataware?

Dataware- is a repository of integrated information, available for


queries and analysis. Data and information are extracted from mixed
sources as they are generated, making it easier and more efficient to
run queries over data that originally came from different sources.
What is a
Peopleware?
Peopleware can refer to anything that has to do with the role of people in
the development or use of computer software and hardware systems,
including such issues as developer productivity, teamwork, group
dynamics, the psychology of programming, project management,
organizational factors, human interface design, and human-machine-
interaction.
