TREND DOWNLOAD TO A PC USING HYPERTERMINAL

1. Create a blank text file on your desktop, and save it.


2. Select START from your desktop.
3. Select PROGRAM, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATIONS then HYPERTERMINAL.
4. Enter a name (your choice) in the CONNECTION DESCRIPTION dialog box and select OK.
5. In the CONNECT TO dialog box, click on the pull down arrow to the CONNECT USING: field
and select COM 1.
6. In the COM1 PROPERTIES, set the BITS PER SECOND to 9600, DATA BITS to 8, PARITY =
None, STOP BITS = 1, FLOW CONTROL = Hardware and select OK.
7. Go to TRANSFER and select CAPTURE TEXT from the drop down menu.
8. Select the BROWSE button.
9. Locate the blank text file that was created in step 1.
10. A pop up screen will appear with “The file already exists, would you like to replace it.” Click
the YES button.
11. The CAPTURE TEXT pop up screen will appear. Click the Start button.
12. Turn the Pulse Oximeter on.
13. Press the button.
14. Highlight and select OUTPUT from the menu screen.
15. Highlight and select the SERIAL output.
16. Change the serial output to ASCII 2.
17. Press the button to save the changes, and exit out of the output setup screen by pressing
the button.
18. Completely exit the MENU screen on to the standard Radical display.
19. Press the button.
20. Press the button twice.
21. Press the button.
22. Highlight and select the DEFAULT VIEW option, and change it to 24hrs. Press the button
to save the changes, and exit out of the TREND SETUP screen by pressing the button.
23. Press the button, until the two buttons are visible.
24. Locate the desired trend data with the two buttons.
25. After the desired trend data is located, press the button twice.
26. Press the button.
27. Highlight and select the TREND ACTION option, and change it to PRINT (Change it to Serial
Dump to send info to Hyper Terminal). Press the button to save the changes. The
CONFIRM screen will pop up. Press the button. The unit will begin to transfer all the trend
information to the computer.
28. When the unit is done transferring information, the screen will go back to the trend screen,
and the HyperTerminal screen will stop recording information.
29. Go to TRANSFER and select CAPTURE TEXT STOP from the drop down menu.
30. Exit the HyperTerminal application.
31. Locate the text file on the desktop and the trend information will be recorded inside.

The text file can also be opened through Excel to modify and graph the readings.
1. Open Excel.
2. Go to FILE and select OPEN from the drop down menu.
3. Locate the text file and click OPEN.
4. The TEXT IMPORT WIZARD window will pop up. Select DELIMETED and click on the Next
button.
5. Make sure the following delimiters and checked off: TAB, SPACE, OTHER. In the box to the
right of the OTHER tab place a “%”.
6. Select finish and the trend data is ready to be edited.
