• A chemical accident is unintentional release of one or
more hazardous substances
• that can affect human health and the environment.
• It is mainly caused due to:
1. Failure of safety system.
2. Misuse of chemical substance for destructive purpose.

illness and disability
4. Poisoning
• The Bhopal Gas tragedy is one of the worst
chemical disasters in India.
• It occurred on 3 December 1984.
• During this tragedy, MIC (methyl isocyanate), a
