Illustrator and author Roland Topor founded the Panic Movement with Alejandro Jodorowsky and Fernando Arrabal, illustrated Daniel Spoerri's An Anecdoted Topography of Chance and one of Jodorowsky's books, wrote the novel The Tenant which Roman Polanski turned into a movie, collaborated with film maker René Laloux on several films including La Planète Sauvage [Fantastic Planet], played Renfield in Werner Herzog's Nosferatu, had a book of his drawings published by City Lights Books in their heyday [48-page pamphlet called Panic, to be featured here soon], and recorded the 1975 LP Panic - The Golden Years which is listed in the Broken Music book. So with a history like this, why on earth did Philips release a children's record by him? Recorded in 1978, this beautiful release presents 8 songs written by Topor set to music by Max Rongier. Packaged in a 7.25" by 10.25" folder with full color cover, the inside reveals 12 full color pages presenting the lyrics for each song along with illustrations by Topor which appear to be done in either colored pencil or crayon. Printed on heavy stock with a little bit of texture, this is a lovely presentation."
