I want to get a front and back dash cam for my wife's car. Ideally it would have the ability to directly connect to my wife's iphone or my home wifi and stream audio/video on demand to a location of my choice via the cell network. (I have a personal nextcloud server that I could use as a repository) I've used a Blackvue in a previous car, but am open to suggestions of what people have had good experiences with.

There's quite a few dedicated dashcam reviews/Youtube channels/whatnot out there, I am not sure what's good. However last time I looked (which was the Sony STARVIS 2 era?), Blackvue and VIOFO had some good ones, and the app, at least from Viofo, wasn't bad.
However cellular connectivity was not one of my criteria unfortunately... let us know what you find!

I don’t mind if the cell part is handled by the attached phone. That should make things a bit simpler.
We have VIOFOs and they're pretty great. Though, I've never heard of any like you're describing that can upload via cell service.
Vortex Radar or Safe Drive Solutions reviews on Youtube both still seem to be good, I just checked what I watched years earlier when buying my last dashcam (the Google overlord remembers what I watched...). IIRC one of them currently has a video on the Amazon deals that expire tonight if you're ready to buy right now.
Let me describe the use case and see if any of you can come up with a way to do what I want. I'm going to be slightly vague for reasons.
My wife and I live in a very safe neighborhood. However, my wife works in an area that has a pretty good chance of becoming a focal point for some questionable people. As she is most definitely not a pigmentally challenged Northern European mutt as I am, we are concerned that those questionable people might take exception to her presence and attempt to do something stupid.
I agree the odds are low (as does she) but they aren't nonexistent. Given that these individuals have been caught making up utter bullshit and disappearing electronic recording devices that might contradict their story, I just want some way to make sure that if something happens I have a recording of what really happened. Thus my desire to livestream whatever the fuck is going down to some offsite location.

BlackVue, Thinkware, Vantrue, I think all offer dashcams with built-in cellular connectivity to their cloud services (almost certainly for a monthly fee). I don't think Viofo currently offers a dashcam with built-in cellular connectivity.
