Twenty

Twenty years ago

you arrived like a miracle—

an answer to a question

I did not know;

A reason for a smile

In the midst of Kabul snow

I look back now and remember:

You

waiting behind the door

for me to come home,

Clinging to my legs at every goodbye,

Wrapping around my neck when awake,

and resting in my arms when asleep

Time has been chiselling you

before my eyes,

as you step out of my shadow

and grow new wings to fly.

You stand now at the edge of yourself—

half made of who you have been,

half made of who you are brave enough

to become.

The world will try to hurry you.

Let it wait.

You are allowed to move

at the speed of your own becoming.

The world will try to judge you.

Do not wait.

You are allowed to choose your path.

I know you will choose it right.

And if you ever doubt your worth,

remember this:

you have been loved—

loudly, quietly, fiercely—

since the first moment you breathed.

Twenty is not a number.

It is a doorway.

And you do not have to know

what waits on the other side

to step through it shining.

Happy birthday, my daughter.

The best chapters

are just beginning.

Wishes from Nithila

I'm chasing words, but none seem enough-

To describe the light of my life.

You have showered me with so much love,

You're my eternal strength and guide.

Nothing hurts me quite as much

As not being there for your special day.

But how much did it hurt you?

When you sent your only child miles away?

For you always put my dreams first,

You made my aspirations yours.

Through every turmoil, every outburst,

You wiped my tears and helped me endure.

Though my new life keeps me apart,

Through words that come from aching hearts,

I hope these words can compensate,

My absence on your special day.

I send my love across the skies,

May it brighten the candles in your room,

I still long for your wisdom that never dies,

And I hope to be as strong as you.

Here's to you, my beacon of pride,

To 50 years of joy and love!

The blessing of you, by my side-

Everyday, I thank the heavens above.

Lunch out at Cafe Azzure

Last Sunday was a rainy day in Bengaluru and we decided to try the food at Café Azzure at Kalyan Nagar as It was highly recommended by my daughter  ( She had tried it last week with her school friends). Café Azzure offers an exhaustive continental menu right from  English breakfasts to a variety of Italian cuisines.

As the name suggests , there was a touch of 'Azure blue'  against the predominant white in the café ambience, giving you a pleasant Mediterranean feel!

We took a comfortable seat at the ground level as the first floor was a 'hooka' bar for smokers.
Ordering food was made simple by the scanning of QR codes kept on the table.
Fish fingers

Honey Mustard chicken salad

We went for Honey mustard chicken salad along with fish fingers for starters. My wife ordered Cheesy Eggs with Toast and Nithila ordered Butter garlic Prawns and French fries. The food was very nice and well presented but we had a long wait due to the Sunday crowd. We ordered a Walnut Brownie and a vanilla Sundae for dessert. Overall a happy experience !
