Not sure if useful or not. I'm just playing with things at the moment. It was playing with this that led me to see that closures called from internals do not inherit the strict_type setting of the calling function (rightly or wrongly).

That's absolutely fine. I personally can't think of a real world use-case where I would need this. Perfectly happy for you to close this off if it's not appropriate now or ever :)
