Life throws ya

What life has thrown me is a big loop. Or a hook that sometimes feels like I'm being hit with rotten tomatoes on that old stage. I have decided to try to blog about my last 2 years. So many people have been in my shoes. And so many more will be in the future. Everyone has their story, and mine is similar to others and different from those. Divorce.
I won't use this blogs addy to write about it. As this will optimistically become my ole kreative korner once again. In a new house. New life. Heads up world, you are going to hear me roar. (Yes, in the words of Katy perry...)  ;)

Password Protected book

I have wanted to share this wonderful project for sometime. Have a lot of web passwords? I made a mini album to keep these passwords in. I love pockets so my password cards are hidden in the pockets!

There are some obvious cards but all the password cards are tucked in their pockets!
The tab on the lower right (above pic and throughout you will see blank tabs...) will have a letter so I can flip to websites password(s) alphabetically.
Some pockets were on the "top" and when closed become upside down. So I made cards tight fit, able to come out sideways or little file pockets with flaps!
I'm loving my Silhouette to create wonderful embellishments! The tabs were cut with my machine and perforated to fold over. The cute little numbers and pocket envelopes were also cut from it!
How will I know it will be private? It looks like decor.

I had these sticky frames that I sanded and used

I used foam mount squares to raise them and make it into a little shadow box
I made the theme keys, clocks and home

for now I have no pics, but I figure once we get back from a trip I will be putting up a few

 Next styrofoam project?
Paper page pockets!
I wrapped these rectangles in black fabric and framed the sides with black satin ribbon
take a 12x12 paper and make it into an accordian folder
I used my new exciting silhouette and cut out my boys' names.
As soon as they come in the door I can check their school folders and pop what I want to keepsake right into their cute accordian folder holder! :D
Get to saving and recycling your Styrofoam!

12 months of Seasonal Houses

Chipboard Houses for the whole year through!
"Maya Road" and "Collections Elements" are a couple brands that make chipboard houses.
Below are loooots of pics and directions on how I got the sweet details made on a few of these homes!

I chose paper that was crackle or old style.

After tracing and cutting my paper I decided to leave 1 window closed so I could get a 3D effect on one side.
Because I am going to pop out the paper I chose I need to ink my window area and the edges as you will see in there a bit.

Below, where I left the "closed" window I cut a matching paper square over the chipboard hole and put a flower clear sticker on. Then a glossy accent is put over that so it looks like a glassy window!

I added the foam stickers tot he chipboard so I get the pop-up

Time to put the deets on the paper! (everybody's fave part!)
My favorite scroll stamp, which I used here and there throughout my houses.

I made sure to keep a little theme going on my houses. All of them have the triangle gables on the top of their roof! I added stickers, flowers and a Tim Holtz Memo Pin with a little sign I made- "Home Sweet Home" on this house. Notice the flower in the window?

This is July which is on the otherside of my "Home Sweet Home" side.

This "doily" accent is from the wedding section of a craft store. I "antiqued" it with some chalk.

I then wanted to add a flag, I cut a rectangle, crumpled and chalked this also, adding another memo pin.
In the picture on the right below you can see the 3D paper pop I did from the other side. I like that it made the house thick and dimensional.

from left to right: January, February, March, April
bottom: May and June

Left to right: December, November, October, September
bottom row: August and July

and close ups
I found brown/bronze jewelry wire, curled it and stuck it between the paper and chipboard for smoke!

I added numbers to a few houses from homes that I had as a child.

I found bat eyelets at a local craft store in my home town several years ago.
I added a rub-on clock and chalked the paper to look ghostly.
In the door is a spider sticker hanging from a thread.
BOO!

For March I used Martha Stewart embossing glitter.

and when you open the tag door...

I had a fabric threaded mess 12x12 I have never used. I thought this would be perfect. Metal keys are from K&C Company, love them!
As this is April I added bubble tear drops for the rain!

September and our education. The little envelope is a door that opens.
As you can see I kept with the triangle gabled theme.

February, full of love and still a chilly month!

I added Crackle accent to frosty vellum squares that I cut. I recommend using the crackle, the thicker you use the longer it takes for it to start crackling tho!
I found key and key hole brads from "Recollections" at Michaels.

August floral

another metal key from the K&C company package
