Inspiration Friday- Banners!!

Happy Friday! I am back with my final blog post for May. Today I am going to share a little DIY on banners. They are really popular right now and can be found in almost every manufacturer line out right now. I personally love them, I want to put them on all of my projects. Before I give you the instructions on how to make yourself some banners for your projects, I want to share a card that I made. Yes, it does have a banner.

Many Thanks
For this card I used Simple Stories: Ele.ment.ary line.

Banner's are super easy to make. Most of the time I freehand them, but I have lots of friends that say they can't cut freehand. So this is for them......

Scallop Banner
I used a One inch circle punch for this banner. You can go larger or smaller depending on your project.
  • punch several circle's with your circle punch
  • fold each circle in half
  • cut each circle in half along the folded line
  • arrange the half circles on your project to create a banner
Triangle Banner
  • cut several pieces of paper to 1x1.5
  • fold each piece in half
  • cut at the fold to the outer corner (diagonal)
  • unfold and arrange your triangles in a banner
Flag Banner
  • cut several pieces of paper to 1x1.5
  • fold each piece in half
  • at about .25 inches cut from the fold to the bottom corner
  • unfold and arrange your flags in a banner
Super easy and way cute! There are so many things you can do with these banners, the possibilities are endless. I like to mix up the different shapes, add twine, draw on stitching or add letters.

I hope you found this DIY helpful and it inspires you to add a few banner's to your projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Product Wednesday - Studio Tour

Hi again! It's Lisa, back for another Product Wednesday post. I've enjoyed sharing projects and ideas with you this month, and now it's time for me to show you around my creative studio!

I have a room dedicated to all my creative endeavors, and it is my little piece of heaven, even if it is a little scattered and disorganized (just like me!) I can literally spend hours in here and lose all track of time. I love to pop a movie into the computer (I even have a scrappy "playlist" of movies I reach for again and again - no rhyme or reason to that WHATSOEVER - just movies I enjoy) and see what I can whip up.

My room is divided into three "stations," if you will: My store, my "office," and my creative corner.

Let's start with my creative corner:

Here's my desk. Okay, it's really a card table. Simple, I know, but I have been very productive here. Behind the desk is a cabinet I bought at Home Depot which holds all my photos and negatives (organized Library of Memories style), plus various items I've bought to alter.

These Iris carts hold some of my stamps, my colored pencils, Cricut supplies, embossing tools, brads and fasteners, extra adhesives, and miscellaneous punches and tools.

These racks hold all my papers, cardstock, ribbon, "artsy" supplies (in the brown baskets), punches, embellishments, and MUCH much more. They're made from black wire cubes I found at Target.

The bookshelf is for albums, magazines and idea books, and yes, pages waiting for a home.

Now for my office area - not very exciting, but again, I'm very productive here. In fact, I'm typing this post here! Ha!

Now for a look at my crop store. I hold classes and crops in my home, and I find that I need to keep stock on hand for the ladies who come to play.

More wire cubes for shelving and display space.

I got two of these metal basket/shelves at Ikea. I keep all my baker's twine in them.

I also got these small black buckets at Ikea. They hold smaller items.

A close-up of the baskets and boxes I use to display stickers, buttons, brads, etc.

I hope you've enjoyed this tour. My studio is not elaborate or fancy, rather it's pretty basic and functional. Still, it's my happy place!

Inspiration Friday- My Creative Space

Today I am going to share with you my space where creativity happens! A few years ago I decided that I needed my own space, really I was tired of packing and unpacking everything and working at the dining room table. So, I moved everything to a room in the basement and got crafty!

This set of cubes holds lot's of goodies. Mostly paper, a drawer for punches (which I have outgrown), chipboard, rub-on's, a binder full of stamps, and my curvy cutter.
On top of the cubes I have some of my die cutting tools, such as my Cuttlebug and Revolution. The smaller white shelf contains my Quickutz alphabets. Above it all I have a 6 ft curtain rod that I use to display some of my favorite layouts.

In this little area I store all of my rubber and acrylic stamps, stamp pads and more punches. I also have a few magazines for inspiration. The jars on top hold chipboard, snippets of ribbon, and more chipboard. The baskets to the left hold embossing powder, glitter and some embellishments.

I have a small desk where I keep my Cricut, and above that I have a large shelf to house paint, stickles, buttons and ribbon. I also have my traveling bags stuck in the corner. To the right you can see a cabinet, this is where I keep photos and supplies for classes.

And this is where the "magic' happens! Just a white 6 ft table, that is usually not this clean, ever!

So there you have it! Nothing fancy, just a place to create. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful weekend with lots of sunshine!!

Product Wednesday: Make 'n' Take

Hi, it's Lisa, back with your Product Wednesday post. Today I want to share a tutorial for a cute, quick make -n-take idea - a slit-latch gift card holder.

Step 1: Begin by cutting a strip of solid cardstock 3" x 10"

Step 2: Score cardstock at 5"

Step 4: Cut patterned paper 2 3/4" x 4 3/4"
Step 5: Distress patterned paper and adhere to card front

Step 6: Mark inside of card at 1" in and 1 1/2" down on both ends.

Step 7: Cut diagonal slit from marked spot down to bottom edge. Spin cardstock around and do the same on the other end, being careful to cut both slits in opposite directions from each other.
Step 8: Cut 2 strips of patterned paper 1" x 3"
Step 9: Fold patterned paper strip from center to create photo corners
Step 10: Trim off excess paper tails

Step 11: Using a credit card or gift card, slip corners onto card for proper spacing
Step 12: Apply adhesive to backs of corners
Step 13: Adhere corners, being sure to slide them outward slightly so that the gift card will be able to be easily slid into place.

Step 14: Adhere sentiment and any embellishments to front of card; latch card closed with slits

Enjoy!

Supplies used: American Crafts cardstock, Basic Grey Hello Luscious patterned papers and journal tag, Creative Imaginations acrylic stamp
