Yes, I'm also getting a looot of errors.
Some statements don't work on MSVS:
char *mychar;
my_function( (zstr)mychar);

VS will say: cannot convert from 'char*' to 'zstr'.

This is specially problematic in EMPTY_STR, because it won't allow you to cast it to (zstr). And AFAIR there are no anonymous structs/unions in standard C, so you must define it as a global variable.
