Life is pretty good....and why wouldn't it be?
I am a pirate, after all.

Well, everyone is wearing them!!!!

So tonight I had a conversation with my daughter and it went something like this....

Me: Liv, I really like the jeans you have on
Liv: Yea, I like them but they are from Osh Gosh
Me: and....what is wrong with that?
Liv: MOMMY...Osh Gosh and Childrens Place is for...kids!
Me: and...you are??
Liv: MOMMY- I am almost nine! Almost a teenager
Me: Oh my word, OLIVIA, you are not almost a teenager.
Liv: well, ok, but I really want to get skinny jeans
Me: Liv, you are NOT getting skinny jeans.....they are too tight

Okay, so this is the kicker...wait for it....

Liv: but MOM, everyone is wearing them!

I knew I would hear this someday but I wasn't ready for it tonight. UGH! Anyone else out there as scared as I am.........thank the Lord I only have one girl! :o)

Turning 40....The Ramblings Of An Old Woman

Yep, I just turned 40.......just typing that number sends me into a tailspin. I have to admit that I still can't believe that I am actually that old. Remember, when you were younger.....30 seemed old but 40, well, that was ancient. I don't feel 40- whatever that would feel like- but I do feel that I should feel older. Did you follow that??? You are probably wondering why the number is such a big deal...wish I could tell you....because it is just a number. A very BIG number. It just feels weird to know you are 40 and not feel like you are...there is a huge disconnect here.

However, even though I am, ah, 40....... life is so very good. God has been gracious and I thank him for all the gifts he has lovingly given to me. Can't say that I deserved any of it seeing as how I made quite a few whopper mistakes in my life but thankfully he doesn't keep score. Instead, he continues to bless me....in his own timing. Some of His most perfectly orchestrated blessings in my life......

- my David. Went to school together our whole lives, lost touch for 10 years, wrote him a letter, he called and well, we celebrated our 11th anniversary this year. He is my very best friend, a loving dad, a hard worker and the best person I know. I am honored to be his wife.

- my Olivia. Our first baby and our only girl. She is sweet, kind, emotional and lovely inside and out. She is a great friend and helps anyone who needs it. The Lord gave her to me to remind me to be kind, to keep me sane and to have someone to have wonderful "girl time" with.

- my Jackson. Our second baby and our first son. He is sweet, crazy, thoughtful and is constantly making noise. It drives me batty. The Lord knew my life would be too quiet without him and besides there is nothing like the love of a son for his mommy.

- my Lucas. Our third baby and our second son. He is the baby I prayed to have for 4 years. The baby I gave up on having.....the Lord gave him to me when I would have the time to care for him and his beautiful blue eyes best. He is sweet and cuddly and I can't get enough of him.

- my family. My parents, in-laws, brother, sista's, and brother in laws......their love and support is unconditional and I am pretty sure that no one else in the world could have a better family than me!

- my friends. I am blessed with a great many friends and they all are so different. But they all are the same in that they are strong, loving, caring women whom I admire and feel privileged to know.

So with all that said..... I may be 40 but life is grand and besides, it's just a number right???

I am celebrating the 11th anniversary of my 29th birthday...yea, that makes me 40!
Lucas is feeling my pain....

These are my peeps....I couldn't love them more

Eye Patching

So we have been doing the eye patching for a while now and Lucas is doing great with it. He certainly doesn't like it but seems to be adjusting well. He has to wear it for 75% of his waking time...so we have about 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night without the patch.
The patch, to be honest, is just a glorified band-aid so it is rather ugly. I found a website that makes stickers for the patches. It is a mom whose daughter had a cataract and while patching she started to draw on her daughters patch to make it more fun. She wanted people to make eye contact instead of looking away. It worked and she started Eye Doodle (isn't that so cool?). So Liv, Jack and I got on-line and ordered a bunch of fun stickers. They are really cute and Lucas looks great in them! It definately makes his patching less "scary" for people who are just meeting him....and you know that everywhere you go people have to look at your baby. So here are a few pictures of Lucas and his patches.
So far.....so good......

Nope- we do not like the patch! :o(
