Typical responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and assisting sponsors during setup and throughout the event
  • Acting as the main point of contact between sponsors and the organising team
  • Coordinating with the venue on sponsor-related matters (e.g., booth placement, power, internet access)
  • Relaying feedback or concerns from sponsors to the organisers
  • Ensuring that sponsor visibility and benefits align with their sponsorship agreements

Who Can Be a Sponsor Wrangler

This role requires strong communication skills and an understanding of sponsorship arrangements. You should not select this task if you are staffing a sponsor booth yourself during the conference.

The position is typically covered by an experienced volunteer, senior organiser, or board member familiar with sponsor relations and conference logistics.

Notes

  • Any monetary or contractual decisions involving sponsors must first be approved by the conference organisers or the PostgreSQL Europe Board.
  • Sponsor Wranglers should remain professional and diplomatic when handling questions or complaints.
  • Keep organisers informed about any recurring sponsor issues or logistical challenges to ensure quick resolution.
