Anja Lambrecht

Anja Lambrecht is an authority on the digital economy, digital marketing, and algorithmic bias. Using econometric methods and field experiments, Professor Lambrecht researches issues related to online advertising, promotion, pricing, and consumer behavior on the internet.
In her recent work, Professor Lambrecht has investigated apparent algorithmic bias and discrimination on digital platforms. She has conducted award-winning research that evaluates the performance of dynamically targeted online advertising, as well as its impact on consumers’ decisions. Professor Lambrecht also addresses a range of topics related to digital pricing, notably freemium strategy in mobile app markets, and how nonlinear pricing affects consumers’ choice and usage behavior.
She has presented her research in a variety of settings, and has participated in panel discussions at the Federal Trade Commission on privacy regulations and their impact on competition and innovation. She has also presented at the European Commission on the economics of competition in data markets.
Professor Lambrecht’s articles have been published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, and Management Science. The Journal of Marketing Research honored her with both the William F. O’Dell and the Paul E. Green best paper awards for significant contributions to marketing research, methodology, and/or practice. She has served on several editorial boards, and is associate editor at Marketing Science and the Journal of Marketing. The Marketing Science Institute has recognized Professor Lambrecht as one of the most promising scholars in the field of marketing.
At London Business School, Professor Lambrecht teaches courses in marketing, online advertising, and price discrimination. Previously, she held visiting academic positions at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and Stanford Graduate School of Business. Earlier in her career, Professor Lambrecht worked at McKinsey & Company, where she focused on marketing and sales projects in the software, media, and telecommunications industries.

Pierre Collin-Dufresne is an expert in international financial markets, with an emphasis on asset allocation and pricing, risk management, and market microstructure. Professor Collin-Dufresne consults to the European Central Bank, as part of the Bank’s Directorate of General Research, and formerly held a visiting appointment at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He has served on the advisory research boards of Moody’s, INQUIRE Europe, Kepos Capital, and Lombard Odier Asset Management. As an expert witness, Professor Collin-Dufresne has provided expert testimony in matters involving investment banking, valuation, and fixed-income securities and derivatives.
In his research, Professor Collin-Dufresne studies topics related to credit risk, fixed-income securities, credit and equity markets, asset allocation, securitization, emerging markets, and international finance. He has analyzed trading behaviors and assessed their impact on market liquidity, price volatility, and firm value. Professor Collin-Dufresne has twice been awarded the Journal of Finance’s Amundi Smith Breeden Distinguished Paper Prize for his work on the connections between market dynamics, trading activity, and stock prices, as well as for research on securitization.
Professor Collin-Dufresne’s research has been published in leading academic journals, including Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Finance, and the Review of Financial Studies. A coeditor of Finance and Stochastics, he also serves as associate editor of the International Journal of Central Banking, European Financial Management, and Mathematical Finance. Professor Collin-Dufresne was a director of the American Finance Association and the Western Finance Association. He is a research fellow at the Centre for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) and a former research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
At the Swiss Finance Institute, Professor Collin-Dufresne has taught courses in asset pricing, investments, and credit derivatives. Previously, he was the Carson Family Chair Professor at Columbia Business School, and held professorships at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining the faculty at Columbia, Professor Collin-Dufresne was a senior portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, responsible for fixed-income and credit strategies in the Quantitative Strategies Group.

W. Robert Majure

Bob Majure coheads Cornerstone Research’s merger investigations practice in Washington, DC. Dr. Majure has wide-ranging expertise with merger and joint venture analysis, antitrust proceedings, regulatory actions, and appellate filings. He has experience across many industries, including agriculture, energy, health insurance, high tech, industrial equipment, media, professional services, telecommunications, and transportation. Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) has recommended Dr. Majure as a leading competition economist and consulting expert in the competition field.
Dr. Majure is the former Director of Economics for the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. In this role, he worked closely with the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis and other members of the Antitrust Division front office, monitoring merger enforcement and litigation matters, allegations of anticompetitive horizontal conduct, and monopolization. Dr. Majure has received awards for senior executive civil service, culminating in Presidential recognition.
An expert in industrial organization economics, Dr. Majure worked on every merger challenge brought by the Antitrust Division during his nine years as director, including Aetna/Humana, Anthem/Cigna, AT&T/T-Mobile, AT&T/Time Warner, GE/Electrolux, and USAir/American.
He was also instrumental in major merger settlements, notably Anheuser-Busch InBev/SABMiller, Bayer/Monsanto, Comcast/NBCU, CVS/Aetna, and Dow/DuPont.
As part of the DOJ’s non-merger enforcement, Dr. Majure supervised numerous investigations of business practices, as well as several challenges, such as American Express, Apple, and Carolinas Healthcare System.
Dr. Majure’s career at the DOJ spanned nearly twenty-five years and several key roles. In addition to supporting the Antitrust Division’s enforcement and policy activities across all of its areas of interest, he frequently coordinated practices and policies with senior representatives of other domestic and international enforcement agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission and the Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP). He was also actively involved in multinational competition policy efforts through the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Competition Network (ICN).
Previously, Dr. Majure served as a section chief and as an assistant section chief in the Antitrust Division’s Economic Analysis Group (EAG). In these capacities, he led the economic team supporting the Division’s enforcement and policy activities. He submitted testimony on competitive effects in Union Pacific/Southern Pacific Railroad and on the suitability of remedy in U.S. v. SBC Communications Inc. and AT&T Corp. and U.S. v. Verizon Communications Inc. and MCI Inc. He also served on the committee that drafted the 2010 Horizontal Merger Guidelines.
