Google has added a Gemini app for Windows, months after debuting the app on macOS. The app is designed to work seamlessly with other Windows apps and provides instant assistance wherever possible, Google said in a blog post.
Like on macOS, summoning Gemini on Windows is easy with an Alt + Space keyboard shortcut. You can use the tool for regular querying or request it to fact-check documents, suggest ideas for presentations, or create images and videos using Nano Banana and Gemini Omni, respectively.
You can also use Gemini Spark as a 24/7 personal AI agent. With your permission, it can connect to compatible Google services, such as Gmail and Google Drive, and pull the information you need to draft an email or presentation.
It will be interesting to see how many Windows users prefer Gemini over Microsoft’s own Copilot. Google says its tool can run in the background without slowing down your PC, and that “more native desktop capabilities” will roll out over time.
You can download the new Gemini app from Google’s website, and it is compatible with both Windows 10 and Windows 11. To use Gemini Spark, though, you should be 18 or above and have a Google AI subscription, which starts with the Google AI Plus plan at $4.99 per month.
Network carriers sometimes offer Google AI subscriptions as a perk, and students can currently grab a limited-time offer for the annual Google AI Pro Plan for free. In addition to higher Gemini usage limits, the AI Pro plan (usually $20 per month) unlocks 5TB of additional cloud storage, while the lower-priced AI Plus plan offers 400GB.
