Apple sucks balls. The way they intentionally make their products incompatible with non-Apple products so you have to buy through them, or get a “dongle”. Dongles suck balls.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Disregarding "the American dream" what's some stuff about America that still makes you proud?
9·1 year agoOur country is beautiful, and we have an incredibly diverse array of climates. Tropical beaches, vast deserts, snow capped peaks, dense forest, sprawling grasslands. And so much of our land is protected in National Parks, BLM, National Forests… It’s truly a treasure.

politics @lemmy.world•California's shoplifting laws are not broken. California is "fixing" them anyway.
2·2 years agoFormer Californian myself. It could definitely be worse! Could also be better. I miss Jerry Brown.

133·2 years agoI really don’t like Newsom. He comes across as a politician that isn’t motivated by a sense of public service, but instead someone who’s just in it for the fame and power. And I just don’t trust anyone who spends that much time on his hair.
It’s true. I teach college kids, and a couple of years ago my class was taking a midterm. The room didn’t have a clock so I put my watch on the document camera display so they’d know how much time was left. A girl in the front row asked me what time it was, because she couldn’t tell time. After she turned in her test, thinking she must be kind of embarrassed about this, I told her I’d be happy to teach her how to tell time. She gave me a look like “ok, boomer” and said no thanks.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you get over the fact that not everyone will like you?
3·2 years agoFellow teacher here! During my first 5 years or so teaching, I was so sensitive to negative feedback. Comments were overwhelmingly positive but I’d really wince at negative comments. I’ve grown a thicker skin since then, and more importantly I’ve come to believe in myself and I know I’m good at what I do. So, experience and confidence.

4·2 years agoThanks for posting this; it brings back lots of happy memories for me. I camped there many times as a kid back in the 90s, and the whole family loved watching the movie. Such a cool place to visit. I love Wyoming!

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Foreign diplomats react with horror to Biden’s dismal debate performance
1·2 years agoI think it’s more that Trump behaved exactly as we’re used to seeing him. He lied, he was combative, etc but nothing new there. Biden’s performance was truly alarming, as in it wasn’t clear if he’d even be able to finish the debate. I agree that Trump should be raked over the coals daily by the media because he’s talking like early 1930’s Hitler. But the level of concern over Biden’s performance is warranted, and I appreciate journalists not trying to downplay this.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•You have 15$. How would you spend it so that you'll be the happiest you can be for 15$ ?
20·2 years agoI sat here and thought about it, and I truly think I’d go to the dollar store, buy a few cheap water guns, and have a water fight with my sisters and their kids. Remember how fun water fights are??? Even those cheap little water guns; doesn’t have to be fancy. Leftover money would go to popsicles.
