Absolutely love it! I’ve always loved a simple swag and disliked tents. Now I don’t have to compromise anymore when I go hiking or bike touring. I have even got rid of my canvas swag now to use this car camping too. I’m only 166cm (5 foot 6) so have so much room to store my pack and my odds and ends up near my head.

Awesome swags, light, compact and fairly waterproof We tested them in about 40mm of rain and some water got in but all in all very good.

Alton went above and beyond with this swag. The absolute dream for those hikers looking to incorporate the pleasures of swag camping without sacrificing their pack weight to unrealistic levels. The quality of the bivvy/swag is immense. It’s comfort and practicality make it a great way to camp on the move. Suitable for multiple different styles of outdoor adventures, Alton have constructed very arguably the best compact swag on the market. I’m a 6’9 male, and although I typically struggle to fit in majority of hiking tents, this swag supplied by far the most comfortable sleep I’ve had out in the bush. Will be recommending this product to a lot of people.
I love this swag. We live in British Columbia, Canada and use it for both kayak camping and traditional back packing. I love the packed size and weight of the swag. Very easy to transport whether it is on your back in a pack on in our kayaks. The swag also has lots of room inside. I have had trouble with the poles and eyelets. It is quite tight and takes some effort to get them into the location on the eyelet. I have broken the middle pole and am in the process of getting a warranty replacement. Thoroughly recommend this swag. Great design.
alton swag is perfect for kayak camping allowing you to see what's around camp before bed not being closed to walls of a tent.
Perfect swag for my beach fishing. I like to travel light. Rod, bucket and a backpack. This little swag ticks all my boxes. Oh and an esky if there’s a nice gutter for some jewfish fillets.
I don't think i can go back to single person tents after using this Swag! My gear fits nicely above the entry without sacrificing room for myself. The volume inside the swag feels just right, no wasted space but I'm still able to move around easily. With the swag completely zipped up, i didn't find condensation an issue at all, the inside of the swag was still dry even after a hot night. When i had the top cover rolled down and the fly net zipped up, i could feel the breeze over my torso but my feet and legs still felt warm inside the swag. Safe to say the nanopore material they've used works as advertised, making it a perfect fit for an all season shelter solution. Will be interested to see how well it holds up in the rain during winter. During heavy wind it held up very well when utilising the provided tent pegs. The supporting polls keep the swag's shape tight and fold away easily when packing up. However i will note that when fitting the supporting polls to the swag, it's a very tight fit! I would recommend practicing setting it up before heading out with it for the first time to avoid breaking the swag or the poles, as it can feel like the pole won't fit at first. Overall the walkabout swag V2 is a great swag. It's the size of a bivy but has the characteristics of a single person tent. Its lightweight and packs down to a nice size that will fit in most medium to large packs. If you have the scratch, it's worth the itch!
Camped out overnight, it rained most of the night and wind picked up but I managed to stay dry and had no problems overall.. No issue with condensation on inside, even with the swag being closed up. Would suggest adding additional ventilation for cooling in future models for those situations when you have to be closed up because of rain. Overall, great product.
This swag is a fantastic product. Firstly, it is light-weight and compact when packed. Secondly, putting up the swag is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Thirdly, it is so much easier to get in and out of (compared to other tents). No more crawling in - just step in, lie down, zip up and get a great night's sleep. I had previously used a sleeping bag inside a bivvy, so this is luxury and has more room inside than I had expected. This is head and shoulders above everything else on the market today.
Previously used a tarp and a bivvy bag. This is game changing, very small and compact when packed away making it easily possible to put away in my pack. Lots of room within the swag itself. Only point to be mindful of is that the swag and poles are quite tight and hard to get into the eyelets at first. I ended up breaking one of the poles on first assembly... However I got a free replacement when taking it in to the store.
Love the bivy, just wishthe carrying bag was a bit larger as I like to leave the alton air pad and fitted sheet inside of bivy, rolled up as one piece for quicker set up. Great product nonetheless.
I was thrilled when Alton introduced this product and couldn't wait to try it out. After testing it at Barrington Tops the same weekend, I was very pleased overall. Without stating the obvious, it's not ideal for those who are claustrophobic or uncomfortable in small spaces, but it's still roomy for what it is and utilizes the space well. In terms of quality, I believe it's the best bivy on the market today. However, there seems to be a design flaw with the zippers, as they often get caught on the internal gray material or the rain guard overhang on the top, which is pretty disappointing, especially considering the cost. However, you can tell the material is quality and certainly breathable as advertised. Apart from that, I am satisfied with it. I would happily recommend it for hikers, motorbike/bike trips, or just a night or two away car camp. I love the ability to choose to sleep bug net or fully closed; however, I do wonder if the Alton bug net and 4x3 tarp may be the better combo for the money.
Hey guys, I have been meaning to buy some of your gear for a while now as a few friends use various bits of your gear. I have just spent 4days camping out of a kayak travelling through the Victorian high country using the walk about swag. Overall it was good, seems to retain a great amount of heat and still breath well, and the length and set up/pack down is fantastic. I do have 2 issues both being zipper related.(photos attached) There is 4 sections on the inside on the grey material against the zipper that gets caught up as the zipper moves past them, sometimes jamming the zipper in place, it seems to be material that was not cut correctly. And the rain guard on the top of swag jams the zipper extremely easily, 2 of the nights I slept in the swag I was down to one zipper. Overall I am still very happy with it.
Absolutely amazing! Roomy, extraordinarily breathable and so much wriggle space! Lightweight yet mighty. Combines all the feeling of stability of an old fashioned canvas swag with the portability and practicality of the new fabric technology. Honestly have never experienced the flexibility and convenience of a bivvy/ swag like this before. Both thumbs up 👍 👍
Have been waiting for a product like this for a long time. Just a class act and perfect in every way for a multitude of solo adventures. Beats my hiking tent setup hands down and doubles as camp swag to replace my bulky swag setup. Packs down ridiculously small.. very happy. .
Had a great time in the Alpine National Park. Great for star gazing in bed. Kept me warm through 4 degree’s overnight.

Looks to be good quality. Everything works nicely. I enjoyed using it. Ive spent many nights in traditional canvas swags, this is a nice alternative. A little too warm in hot weather. The lack of ventilation at head and foot makes this warmer than my heavy canvas swag. But no condensation issues.
I bought it, unpacked it in a reserve, I love it. I have not yet had a chance to camp in it due to injury. I told a friend who serves in the army here in Aust, if he knew of Alton, he sure did, I asked him if he wanted to have a crack using it, because his bivvy was larger and heavier. He will test it use it shortly. He certainly loved how small and light the Alton Bivvy was when I gave it to him. See how it goes. Steven
This is the first swag that I have owned, and it's very high quality. I've had it set up since October and have been using it nightly with the sleeping mat. It's been through everything from near torrential rain, intense winds, to 46 °C weather, and it's still in perfect shape minus a bit of dirt stuck on the bottom. The swag itself is very roomy, being able to fit myself, one of the sleeping mats, a couple of pillows and a blanket as well as an 80L backpack. And being able to have the mesh cover only or the outer cover zipped is very handy for when it's raining, or just to add some shade/privacy. I was a bit hesitant at first due to how expensive it is, but it's well worth the money.
i think having a way to see out the back and have a breeze come through like the carinthia observers would make this perfect, or a foot vent also
This swag packs down to a very small and lightweight pack. It’s quick and easy to set up and is surprisingly spacious inside. There is plenty of room for me to stretch out and store my pack inside.
Haven't taken it camping/hiking yet. Set up is easy as. Quite spacious for how it looks. Sturdy and quality build.
Tried out the swag at home (Nth QLD), had maybe 2 hours of moderate rain during the night, not one drop of water entered the swag👍.

Potential Quality Control Issue with Main Pole being too Long - snapped. Used the Alton swag instead of a tent to walk the West Highland Way. Used in combination with a tarp. Good combination and used tarp when rain was heavy. Pretty sure the swag by itself would have held up. Unfortunately the main pole was noticeably way too tight and snapped but luckily I took a pole repair kit with me. I do not live in the Australia and ended up just replacing the pole myself with a replacement pole kit. Glad I own it but a little disappointed with the price and then the main pole being over sized and snapping. Quality control could be better.
I finally used it in real conditions... 1st the bad... It's been said before (by someone from the U.K. I believe), but in France too I had to add over a 100€ for custom taxes (which wasn't a nice surprise)... Now to the gear. The poles are more then a snug fit (as commented by various persons). After breaking a part (photo) I ordered some extra from AliExpress (didn't bother to go through the warranty since I broke it on first set up, luckily at home, and wasn't sure it was covered). So to fix it I had to disassemble all the poles and cut almost an inch from both sides. It works well but too bad they couldn't be set up before being shipped so as to avoid this issue (which appears quite common). I'm a paraglider and before they ship you a new one, each one gets inflated (like a kite) to make sure everything is in order...(Now I understand in this case it's not a life and death issue.) Now to The good... Outstanding concept, very compact and high quality material. Tested in almost freezing conditions, I wouldn't say it was comfy, but with various layers of clothes, I wasn't cold, and it does add various degrees inside (I'd say the ideal temperature would be from 8⁰ Celsius around sunrise at least...). I'm eager to use it in the coming weeks (forest) and over a month this summer (seashore on a 550 kilomètres hike)! Otherwise I changed the small zipper handles for red loops so that I can see and grab them better from the inside at night. Overall very satisfied with it!
