25·3 天前I’ve told this story a few times. I used to do tons and tons of soil survey. Hike, dig a hole. Rinse repeat all summer. Most surveys would be anywhere from 500 to 2000 pits in size.
Anyway, I was on this massive survey in Ontario. 21 days on, a week off and 21 days on again. I was on like day 16, stomping though some bush behind this guy’s house, and I see this rock that DOES NOT belong here. I notice this kind of shit because as I’m walking I take in the landscape and it’s features to help classify soil.
Meh. I got 1800 more pits to do… Then curiosity gets the better of me.
I walk back over to the rock. It looks one of those salt lamps you’d find at a massage place. I pick it up, and I turn it over, a confused look on my face. My confusion deepens as I see a worn price tag. It IS one of those stupid salt lamps. Who the fuck puts one out here?
I set it down, go to get up and look straight into a trail camera.
Fuck. This is a salt lick to bait deer.
The photos would have shown my tired, dumb ass walk into the frame. Walk out of the frame. Walk back to the rock. Pick it up and turn it over and then look right at the camera

18·3 天前We’ve all been there. Believe it or not, I’m pretty introverted, yet I like to chat, at least in a ‘small group’. The internet feels kind of small because each thread you’re in only has a handful of people commenting, so you feel like you’re talking to a small group, despite it being disproportionately lurkers.
At some point you kind of stop caring, or at least that’s been my experience.

You’re not wrong with generalist degrees, but degrees where you are something at the end still need that base training.
You can’t just walk into an civil engineer’s firm and start building bridges.
Meh, I got my bachelor’s, worked, and then got my graduate degree, and still had to work my way up from nothing as well.
I see degrees as a way of improving your cap on the position you can hold.

Be careful out there, on your own and away from home. You don’t have your support network like you would at home (wherever that may be).
HHH was part of the group. just because it mentions Shawn, doesn’t mean he has to be in the photo, considering he led said group

You can do full or partial provincial EIAs (and small projects are often exempt) but this project should absolutely have an EIA as it’s novel technology and had large cumulative effects. If you’re going to make projects like pulp mills and highways have an EIA this should be a dead ringer
I also shave with a safety razor. Figuring out my setup was a long and painful process to be honest. I’m not sure I would do it again. Now that I’m set I up golden.
Gillette permasharps, a Mekur 38 and Creamo cream is what does the trick for me. If anyone is staying out though I would recommend Vokshod blades - they are really consistent and forgiving
