The leather itself was fine. The wool inner sole was what was wearing out. My toes could feel the leather where the wool had worn away. The new insoles solved that.

I’ve had a pair of the leather out-sole boot style ones for 5 or 6years now. I finally had to buy some (wool) insoles since I had almost worn through to the leather.

I’ve been there. It’s every bit as amazing as you’d imagine. They only time in my life that my jaw dropped in amazement. The inner dome down to the floor is almost 18 stories tall. It almost doesn’t seem real.

My wife is in grad school (again) and has survived on a cheap Chromebook so far, but it entirely depends on the university (and maybe the class/degree).

Linux gang rise up!!!

I switch to Linux in college (20ish years ago) and have been exclusively using it since. Windows XP was my last windows machine. I’ve never regretted it.

It’s a bit of a cheat, but look into Noctua Fans like this.

They are pricier, but VERY quiet while also moving lots of air. My System76 desktop came pre-built with just those.
