I thought it was just teflon that is too weak to handle metal tools.

Oh, the game that taught me spending money on free to play games is a terrible idea.

Ahh, the impression I got is that one makes it sound like they are avoiding it because they can’t be bothered to while the other actively avoids it because its bad.

Is that the same thing? The impression I get is that OPs post is about the IT worker actively distrusting smart tech. While I assume your example is more that the blacksmith doesn’t bother with making metal spoons for himself and using what ever he had already, which would be more comparable to a network engineer still using the ISPs shitty router.

Ehh, at that point it is going to vary so much by relationship, lifestyle and work its hard to really say.
Is your job easier or harder than raising kids? While I haven’t raised kids I have hung out with people who have them, pretty sure I have worked jobs that are much harder but currently do one that is much easier.
Sure, but then don’t be surprised at the other person doing less of the childcare when they have to go back to work almost straight away.
Is it ethical to hoard land when families would willingly farm that land to grow food for themselves? Same question with housing - I am capable of building a small structure to live in perfectly happily but its illegal. Not a builder so the best I could do would likely just be a bit better than van living, but I could do it if it wasn’t illegal.

When there is a water outage here it is normally localised to a small area and makes national news because of how infrequent it is. The water company must provide bottled water when this happens too.

Clearly I live somewhere with better water regulations, never even heard of a boil water notice

Somewhat tempted to go with corded and a generator. Large battery could work but they cost a lot more if you want high watt output and realistically it’s not going to be used super frequently outside of cable reach.I
The money saved by not buying a battery with every tool would be huge too. Some won’t even let you buy without a battery…
We don’t have kids but between the 2 of us we have 1 parent that could get here the same day if needed. 2 who we could see if willing to spend a fortune on the train to very remote areas and a full days travel. 1 who we don’t know what country they are in or even if they are still alive.
So any extra childcare would be entirely reliant on 1 person. We could move to change that to a different person but that hardly helps, there is no location that would be close to any 2 of our parents.

Yeah, works pretty well in a slow cooker. Plus without a fridge it’s the only real way to store meat which is nice when the corner shop is selling a pack of sausages for £0.19 at 23:45

Why would I care about trace minerals in drinking water though? Just want the chlorine taste removed and activated carbon filters seems to do that just fine.

I used a slow cooker when renting a bedroom. Leave it it on all the time and just top it up with ingredients after having a portion.

Aren’t those ultra processed potato nugget things? Why not mashed potato

It’s nice to have 2 extra mini ovens and my kitchen is small.

I really don’t like the proprietary batteries each company use for their cordless tools though. I don’t want to be locked into 1 company and I don’t want to buy 8 different batteries.

I found gas struggles to do low temps too, minimum power in the smallest ring is still too hot for rice unless you want to keep stirring it. Induction I just get it to a boil then leave it on low and it won’t burn without stirring and leave it for 15 mins.

Also wondering this, VLC can run so many formats too
You could walk or cycle like a normal person. You don’t need an emotional support SUV to take the kids to school.
Also the price of fuel is only like 10% or so higher, its not really that much of a difference.
