Trying to sweat it out in my home office, it’s south facing so it’s not too bad right now but I know I’m gonna be melting come 3pm.
Also, feeling a bit bad about the shit going down on Reddit but these loons brought it on themselves.
So is DuckDuckGo but with a few tweaks here and there

They’re not, I have a social group I speak to daily in discord, weekly over zoom and in person every couple of months.
My commute is only 20 minutes each way so it isn’t terrible, I would probably have a worse opinon of it it took any longer.
I’ve not been asked to do overtime so far, I’m not really too sure how I would respond if they asked me to do it.

Hi Dad, I’m Dad

I recently left a tech job that was 100% remote for one that requires 2 days a week in the office.
When I started the remote only job it was good, I had people I talked to on a daily basis, we did all our ceremonies (bi-weekly meetings) over Teams, we were pretty productive and there were few distractions.
Over time though they pushed for more people to be back in the office, but as someone who lived the other end of the country this wasn’t really an option for me. I gradually felt more isolated, I started dreading the ceremonies because everyone else could have proper human interaction and they often forgot about the one or two guys at the end of the Teams calls.
I don’t love my new commute - it takes too long, there is too much traffic - and eating out in the city is expensive, I’m often distracted because of office chats that really don’t need to happen, and I don’t get to take my kids on the school run every morning.
But I don’t get forgotten about and I get to talk to adults who aren’t my wife and kids a couple of times a week.
So far it’s working and I’m pretty happy, but I really hope they don’t start wanting more than two days a week in person.

I’m finding mlem is a lot better than the web app… it’s no Apollo but I feel they’re doing their best.

Deleted my posts, deleted my comments, account will be active until the 30th then I’ll probably delete that too.
It sucks - I had some 20K comment karma on about 2000 posts over 13+ years - but they’ve burnt that bridge and I’m not giving them anything back.
If I need to create a burner account at some point down the road then that’ll happen but I just don’t want to engage with it any more.

You might like Tacoma (https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/concept/231789) it’s a first person adventure game set on a space station where you are trying to work out what happened to the crew. It’s made by Fullbright who made Gone Home (also play that if you didn’t already!)
Tears of the Kingdom: I seem to take ages to play anything these days (only just got down to Hyrule) but I really like it, seems very chill and that’s just what I want right now.
It really is impressive just how much he fucked that up

There is Mlem listed on https://join-lemmy.org/apps
It’s an early test flight build - and there are some bugs - but it seems to work at least!
Oh Pedro… you do like sleeping…
A pretty big one for me would be the option to truncate the posts shown on the feed. At the moment post with lots of code or those with tall images can cause some problems.
Amazing work so far though!

Agreed, if I knew how to code anything in more than Python I would be offering to help you out!

The thing with the digg death was that there was already a Reddit community there; it was smaller perhaps but there would almost always be someone to read your post.

I loved the original but - and you may hate me for saying this - I think Tetris Effect is basically perfect. Amazing visuals, incredible music, the gameplay is classic but the holds and t-spins make it all the more fun.
I tried to go back and play the gameboy version reasonably recently and the lack of a bag system (where the available pieces go into a bag and are pulled out randomly, then once they’re all out they get put back in and the cycle repeats) means that the game is slightly less random and slightly more understandable.
It’s a classic whatever format it’s in though :)

Me too! As sad as I am to watch reddit implode I’m actually quite excited to watch Lemmy grow!
Balance bikes are the way to go, my son seems to take an age to learn anything but going from a balance bike to his big-boy bike was surprisingly painless.
He still struggles with starting though :(
