And what does that make Android’s whole point? 😉

Lemmy@lemmy.ml•I really like it here. However, almost 90% of my feed is either posts about Reddit, or Lemmy/kbin meta analysis. We need actual content and communities over here!
7·3 years agoThis; keep in mind that Rexxit is still ongoing and there are a lot of new arrivals here. So it makes sense that the pain of departing Reddit as well as adjustment pains settling into the Fediverse will be a theme for a while. As people get used to the new way of things, I have no doubt these “meta” issues will naturally become stale.

52·3 years agoI think this is very disappointing, and exceptionally selfish, to split up some of the largest Lemmy communities while a mass Reddit exodus is ongoing. We should be sticking together and trying to grow the Fediverse as a whole, rather than trying to wall off any one single community at this point. That said, I hope this is the end of this approach, and that smaller instances, particularly ones that support a particular community won’t be pushed aside as well (hello from Lemmy Portugal).

46·3 years agoLooking at this thread in r/technology, it sure looks like most of the newer Redditors were just pissed by the blackout and don’t care about Reddit’s changes. That suggests to me that Reddit is beyond saving.

8·3 years agoClass act is a great way to put it. I agree, he’s a credit to indie developers everywhere. And actually his “take the high road” approach is such a contrast with Spez’s unprofessional behaviour, that it just serves to make the latter look even worse.

9·3 years agoMe too, but I think the Reddit and Lemmy APIs are sufficiently different that he would effectively have to rebuild most of the app. I have high hopes for https://github.com/buresdv/Mlem, I’m in the TestFlight, but it’s too incomplete to actually use currently. Still, I’ll miss Apollo itself far more than Reddit.

$19 billion seems high.
