As I padded up to the
entrance of the Nip Nirvana Lounge, I knew immediately that this wasn’t just
another pawty.
The whole place was glowing.
Not metaphorically. Actually glowing. (These
kinds of things happen regularly now that the magical creatures from Level 16 go
wandering about! MOL)
Neon pawprints pulsed
beneath my feet, the walls shimmered like fish scales, and overhead, balloons
drifted lazily… except these ones changed colour with the beat. Somewhere
inside, the bass dropped, deep, velvety, irresistible.
My 15th birthday pawty had
officially begun.
“About time mew showed up!”
I turned to see Pandora, of
course. This year, she’d outdone herself. Holographic whisker extensions, a
gem-encrusted jacket flickering like starlight, and boots that didn’t quite
touch the ground.
“Are… are mew floating?” I
asked.
“Only when the music hits
right,” she grinned. “C’mon. Mew’re missing history.”
That sounded ominous.
Inside, the lounge had
transformed into something between a disco, a dream, and mild chaos. The dance
floor rippled like liquid light. The B Team weren’t just dancing, they were
gliding, spinning in slow-motion bursts, like gravity had taken the night off.
And there, front and centre…
Basil.
Decked out in a radiant
yellow hat, naturally, whistle at the ready, eyes sparkling like lit emeralds,
holding court like a legend who knew exactly what kind of night this was going
to be.
“Basil!” I called.
He raised a glass, catnip
fizz glowing faintly. “Mew made it, birthday boy! Now it’s a pawty!”
No argument there.
At the bar, things were…
less controlled.
Amber was back, and in full
form, but the bar itself had clearly evolved. The taps poured drinks that
swirled with galaxies, shimmered like jellyfish, or occasionally changed
flavour mid-sip.
“Don’t ask questions,” Amber
said, sliding me something electric blue that seemed to have a slight pulse as
I held it in my paw. “Just sip responsibly-ish.”
"Oh, good gravy," I
muttered. "I hope Amber hasn't drunk one of these, Cod help us all!"
Posie was nearby, somehow
keeping order again, though this time she had help. A hovering tray followed
her around, refilling glasses before anyone could complain.
“Upgrades,” she winked,
shimmying in the rainbow light show.
From the kitchen hatch,
Humphrey burst through like a cat possessed.
“I HAVE TRANSCENDED SNACKS,”
he declared with triumph, then paused. “I mean… snacks are transcending.”
Behind him, the replicator
hummed louder than ever, projecting dishes into the air before gently dropping them
onto trays.
“Tuna Tartare Nebulas.
Zero-gravity mousse. And behold, Pan-Galaxian Nip Bites with extra effervescent primo catnip cream
centres!”
One floated past me, and I ate it.
I briefly understood the
meaning of time.
“…more,” I said, reaching up
to catch another.
Floating, self-propelled
snacks. This year’s BIG THING! MOL
Out on the dance floor, the
music shifted, and a familiar wobble approached.
Fudge, still floating. But now…
confidently.
“I’ve evolved,” he whispered, slightly slurring his words as his ginormous tail wafted with mild intent, like a furry rudder. “I no longer walk. I drift with purpose.”
“Dangerous,” I replied, grinning.
“Liberating,” he corrected with a toothy smile,
slowly rotating mid-air like a very relaxed planet.
Then the lights snapped, and a single spotlight hit the
centre.
Pandora’s voice rang out
across the lounge.
“Everypawdy… ROUND TWO.”
The crowd erupted.
“A dance-off?” I shouted.
She grinned wider. “Not just
a dance-off. A BBHQ dance-off with magical effects.”
I should have been
concerned. Instead, I was already moving forward.
The beat dropped harder than
last year.
The floor split into glowing
sections. One sped mew up. One slowed mew down. One made your moves echo in
light trails behind mew, it was fluffing magnificent.
Melvyn hit the centre first,
unleashing a next-level Kitten Shuffle, now enhanced with what I can only
describe as time glitches.
Basil attempted something
ambitious. Regretted it immediately, and continued anyway! MOL (I might share the video soon... MOL)
Amber, still at the bar, was
sipping something suspiciously lethal, and I made a note to go and see what she
was doing, but then I got distracted by another ginger floof.
Fudge was still rotating,
but now somehow to the beat.
Parsley slithered from the
shadows like a sleek black wraith and unleashed a disco-blast worthy of Dancing
with Cats on TV.
Then… me.
I stepped forward. Calm, focused, with Epic Mode engaged, helped along by another extremely tasty nip cocktail with a
splash of my legendary Mind-Bender nip concentrate.
And as I moved, everything
else faded. Not literally, it just felt
like it.
Smooth and effortless. Like the
music had been waiting just for me.
And everypawdy lost it.
At some point, Snowie
drifted past me, a neon pink drink in paw, nodding like a sage witnessing destiny
unfold.
“This,” she said quietly,
“is a proper pawty.”
I couldn’t argue.
Not with the lights, the
laughter, the music wrapping around every corner of the room. Not with me
shining at the centre of it all. Not with everypawdy completely, joyfully,
unapologetically in the moment.
As the night stretched on,
with no clear beginning and no real end, I found myself back near the bar,
watching it all unfold. Amber was taking a quick nap, though she'll tell mew
that she was meditating!!! MOL
Same crew. Some new, some
old. Bigger energy. Better chaos. I raised my glass high and
spun in a slow circle, celebrating with my furmily and furiends.
“Here’s to another year,” I
yelled, beaming with happiness.
Around the room, everypawdy
caught the toast and raised their glasses in salute.
Yeah.
This pawty…

We do hope mew all have an EPIC time at the rave, and if mew need to chill, we have allocated the Crystal Room as the zen zone, which is now located next to the nightclub; just head back out into the corridor, take a left, and it's the next door along, so mew can have a snooze, take five or just crash out completely.
