Elemental Resonance is a collaboration between Encounters (Tyler Hovestadt) and Bluetech (Evan Bartholomew), built as a four-part series that moves through Earth, Air, Fire, and Water before the EPs combine into a full album. Earth Resonance is the first part of the series.
Earth, the first chapter, opens with Material Visitor (Earth Mix), a brand-new track Tyler started with Enigmada (Adam Coleman) and (DJ) Maggie Houtz in Adam's studio, built around a feeling of connection to nature and to each other. The original is headed for Tyler's upcoming collaboration album Intersecting Points, but Earth Resonance is where it first appears in any form, rebuilt by Bluetech as the Earth Mix.
It started from one idea the two of them shared: take Encounters' music apart and build it back into something new. Bluetech strips the original stems down to their core, turns them into wavetable data, and rebuilds them through spectral processing, granular synthesis, and detailed sound design. What comes out keeps the DNA of the originals while becoming something of its own.
The two were first introduced in 2021, when Tyler sent a long-shot email of demos for his first release to an artist he'd followed for years. "When I first heard Encounters, I was instantly struck by the inherent musicality and thoughtful production decisions in his work," Evan says. "I hear a lot of demos that are well produced, but it's few and far between where I hear a unique voice and a developed vision, so I reached out to Maggie. I thought this was an artist worth watching."
The second track on the EP, Open Mind (Earth Mix), from Veil of Echoes, sits in the middle, about inner peace and feeling part of something larger than yourself. Path closes the EP, inspired by being rooted in the natural world and true to who you are. "That's what Earth means to me," Tyler says, "the feeling of being present and rooted."
For Evan, this collaboration has been a chance to go deeper into the music: "I'm deeply enjoying being able to peer behind the curtain, take these compositions apart layer by layer, and nurture some of those seeds into new blooms, to see what else they want to express." All three tracks arrive with a full-length visual piece by Bluetech, releasing alongside the music on his YouTube channel.
