Darren Phasey Brilliant new album from BUNKR. Caught him live at a recent Carbon Based Lifeforms gig in Birmingham. He played an awesome set. Had the pleasure of meeting him after the show. Really down to earth guy. Catch him live if he's in your area. You won't regret it. Favorite track: These Hills.

digimidgi Flippin awesome album Favorite track: 96 Refraction.

tudoracid A fantastic piece of electronica set in the great outdoors- except that this time you can feel the wind on your face and the stream on your feet. Yes, some melodic influence from Global Communication is very welcome but it’s very much its own thing- particularly as the pylons on the horizon might be friendly ufos. Favorite track: 96 Refraction.

masefieldlabs The follow up to Antenne delivers in droves. There is a forensic snapshot of rave-memory crystalised in it's DNA and there is no better example served up than Quarry Transcendence. Favorite track: Quarry Transcendence.

about

It began with a flash of light over the Surrey Hills. A phosphorescent sphere pierced the night sky above Pitch Hill then promptly vanished as quickly as it had appeared, witnessed by a group of friends and later reported in the local papers. Stranger still was its proximity to the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, tucked deep in the woods nearby. Whether cosmic or coincidental, the moment left its mark — a signal from elsewhere, fleeting but unforgettable.....

For James Dean (aka BUNKR), the hills carried more than mysteries. As a child they were a place of escape — trees to climb, trails to ride, endless woods to lose yourself in. As a teenager, the same hills became a gathering ground for free parties hidden in quarries and forests. Word spread after midnight, the air alive with the distant thud of 909 kicks and 808 squiggles, the glow of sound systems like Pineapple Tribe or Kingsize pushing music into the darkness. Signals, BUNKR’s new album, is shaped by these formative encounters with space, sound, and the unknown.

Musically, Signals expands BUNKR’s world of detailed, immersive electronics. Shimmering ambient textures drift against polyrhythmic patterns and breaks; synth lines pulse like coded transmissions; fragments of rave energy flicker and dissolve into wide, cinematic soundscapes.

The record charts a line between memory and imagination — part post-rave archaeology, part sci-fi daydream.

“It’s only in hindsight that I realise how much of what happened on those hills influenced me,” James reflects. “The signs and signals were always there — you just had to know where to look.”

With Signals, BUNKR delivers his most vivid work yet: a record rooted in the landscapes of youth, but tuned to the infinite possibilities of the horizon.
