Citizens deliver final recommendations to boost EU Preparedness
Over three weekends, 150 randomly selected citizens from all 27 EU Member States—representing the EU’s diversity— came together to discuss how Europeans can be better engaged, empowered, and prepared for future crises. During their final session, participants refined their ideas and agreed on a set of concrete recommendations to guide EU action on population preparedness.
Their proposals, now formally submitted to the European Commission, will help ensure that the actions and initiatives of the EU Preparedness Union Strategy are inclusive, effective, and aligned with citizens’ needs.
The panel’s work was streamed live, offering a direct view of democracy in action. Recordings and recommendations can be found on the Preparedness Panel page.
