News@lemmy.world•Democrat flips Republican-held Florida state House district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago
31·22 days agoI’m getting tired of hearing this doomer sentiment. What’s your ultimate goal? Are you trying to convince people that it’s a lost cause to vote so you can tell us, “I told you so!” after the fact?

Android@lemmy.world•Google is requiring mandatory developer verification for all Android apps in 2026English
3·24 days agoSure, mapping and locale data is extremely helpful and makes up a significant portion of what I use my phone for when I’m out and about. My question is more geared towards whether the ability to bank, shop or use social media from my phone is really necessary.
Obviously, it’s a personal choice and I’m more thinking aloud when I question whether I’d be okay with the trade-off of having a phone with fewer capabilities.

41·24 days agoStarting to think phones should just go back to being exclusively for calling and texting anyway, maybe emailing too. Everything else can be done from a laptop. Does it really make our lives better to have access to everything through our phones?
You think food prices will come back down after it’s all over?
Isn’t “3rd dimensional plane” an oxymoron?

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Hyundai drops Ioniq 6 in US as Kia pauses EV6 GT
2·1 month agoI went from a Kona EV to an Ioniq 5 last fall (lease expired). I really liked the Kona, great city cruiser with the range for longer trips. The interior was a tad cramped but we made it work well enough. The main grievance was the limited charging rate was maxed at ~75kW, so a full fast charge took a minimum of 45 minutes.
I like the I5, it’s a lot more spacious inside and the charging rate is so much better. We took a long trip recently and charging stops didn’t exceed 15 minutes. But in comparison to the Kona the I5 drives like a boat, albeit a fast one.
I leased a Kona EV for the last couple years and I really liked it. Great city car, albeit a little cramped on the interior. The range was great but the charge time was pretty ass, making long road trips quite tedious.
I have the Ioniq 5 now and I like it almost as much. The range is a little better but the charge time is leagues ahead; more than twice as fast. It’s bigger and feels like a boat in comparison with the Kona but I just tend to prefer smaller vehicles. If you go with the Ioniq I’d recommend the AWD, it makes acceleration so much smoother.

politics @lemmy.world•The question Joe Biden keeps asking: ‘You think we can actually come back from this?’
255·2 months agoI’m interpreting the way you’re saying it as being a sarcastic joke but him being the POTUS made him the de facto leader of the Democratic party, who in turn failed to influence the majority of Americans to vote for them. It’s been coming out recently that the party’s own investigation into their 2024 loss revealed that the policy around Gaza played a significant role in their defeat, policy that self-proclaimed zionist President Biden had the power to influence and ultimately supported.
So yeah… It kinda is his fault.
