  • If you can speak to the specifics of why you found the writing bad, I think thats fine. If your critique is just “writing was bad”. Well then maybe think on it for longer before sharing your opinion if you dont want to be lumped in with the chuds who also arent going past skin deep with the same opinion.

I have major issues with The Last of Us 2, a game that was also piled on by right wing chuds. I did enjoy the game, but there are issues i have with character motivations where I think the story writers didn’t do enough to convince me that the characters had the conviction they were portrayed as having. I also feel the game had a clear ending that was acceptable and then decided to tack on an additional section because I guess they wanted to resolve somethings that were better left unresolved.

Other than the driving plot forward, once you’re able to ignore some things yeah, enjoyable game, with some missed potential.

Ultimately I also think its about recognizing that these things are other peoples yums, and i think critiquing them is ok, but stating something like bad writing is objective and doesn’t seem subjective. You are denying someone who thought the writing was good. You’re allowed to not like something, but dont yuck it.

  • I went to Japan with 3 friends, all of us male. The itinerary was public and shared, we made discussions on where we were going each day. In train stations and cities all 3 of them asked me how was it that I didnt need to pause and could just keep walking to our next location. I pointed out the signs with perfectly legible english/romanji. The signage in Japan is great.

I get compliments on my perception, and refer to it as a minor super power of mine, but I think it’s because I’m just constantly looking around.

  • I am wondering if i didn’t convey my point well enough?

Im a progressive and as left as they come. I think we should aim for perfect, but be ok with better or good. What i have a problem with is seeing the front runners of the progressive left(AOC snd Bernie) being called out, by people who claim to be leftist, because they don’t say something out loud or often enough. They’ve been very clear on where they stand. They don’t need to keep reaffirming that, especially when it halts momentum, which we so desperately need yesterday.

And yet I see those leftists(not neo libs) say that AOC isn’t the future or anywhere near it, So if not them, then who? Who checks off all the boxes that’s not a milque toast moderate dem?

  • Eh, do we have a left in the US? Technically, yes, but it lacks all rigidity and strength.

The left is caught in a cycle of self canabalization at the moment, and anyone that I’ve seen attempting to pick up the flag and carry it forward is torn apart. People are too concerned with being ethically and morally pure so that when we’re all sitting in the gulag, they can say, “Well, at least I never compromised my values.” And I’m not saying those values aren’t important, but to have the opportunity to address those, we have several prerequisites to tackle first.

Progress is messy, and if you’re not on board, you’re holding it back.
