1·29 days agoFor me, it’s a constant question of: does the good of this person make up for the bad. I think that’s fair. I don’t expect anyone to be perfect, but I can’t enjoy art made by someone whose misdeeds/horrible ideology overshadow the greatness of the art.
It might be worthwhile looking at alternatives like Fluxer or Matrix.
1·1 month agoNo one conversed with me there anyway haha. I found it to be such an unwelcoming place. And the data leaks and age verification crap as well - I hope there’s a decent alternative somewhere because I miss chatting with people.
Mastodon has a lot of writing prompt posts, especially if you like poetry and shorter bits of writing.

9·3 months agoMy focus is on trying to make the world a better place locally, on a tiny level. There is a lot wrong with the world and I can’t do anything about it on that overwhelmingly massive scale, but helping in whatever tiny way I can creates ripples that reach further than trying to fix EVERYTHING.
Or Nigeria, or Greenland, or Panama…
I write a list, then I forget to take it with me.
Was listening to The Cure for about a week, and still listening to them for a horrible reason.
Indeed there is value in that. And sometimes that’s possible and should be pursued. But there are some people I can’t discuss pizza toppings with, because I can’t accept their underlying world view. It’s difficult to find a good balance at scale, which is why everything is becoming so horrible. Something will have to (positively) change at some point, because the current state is unsustainable.
I tried Mastodon, multiple times, and it always has this icky political feel to it. Sort of like a left wing version of Twitter, which I also hate. Bluesky is even worse in this regard IME. Haven’t tried Sharkey. I’ll have a look at some of the alternatives in this thread.
Preferably both. But if I have to choose only one, definitely night. Keeps the bed clean, and helps me sleep a bit better.
