Right now we don’t have much of a choice as far as national elections go, but if dems (actual social democrats and progressives) can achieve what the republicans did we’ll eventually get real change at the national level.

This is pretty much prime territory for the same methods Kirk used for “debate”.

They’re all the same, they’re not there for any honest conversation. There is absolutely no way to “win” with them because no matter what objective and truthful information you offer it will be rejected or you’ll be asked to “prove” something that cannot be done in any manner acceptable to the asker.

Partly agree about liking him as an author. He can pound sand because of bis politics, for sure. He is pretty much a one trick pony. The majority of his lead characters are all child messiahs or some variant of child with special powers. Heck, one of them (Earthfall) is pretty much a character ripoff of Joseph and his cloak of many colors in the bible. So after reading a few of his books you’ve kinda seen them all.

That said, I really liked the Ender series, as well as The Redemption of Christopher Columbus.

Thing is, we got here because of the people pushing right wing nationalist attitudes. Russia is a big exporter of that kind of info via troll farms. China is probably second. While the US has been a growing shitshow for a while and it didn’t take too much effort, there was (and is) a ton of Russian interference deliberately destabilizing the West. The USIC and media have reported on it repeatedly, this isn’t some conspiracy. Everything from the initial Mueller investigation to the killing of Kirk has revealed outside influence pushing the US towards far right extremes via various media.

So yeah, trump is a big threat, but the countries that helped put him in place are every bit as dangerous. Putin is doing everything he can to break up NATO via distrust of the US, wrecking the US economy by pulling money into wars in Ukraine and Iran, and Putin’s pulling that shitheel fool trump deeper into strangling the world economy via oil costs which will further wreck the US economy by turning economic and political allies against us. Trump is such a sucker he’s being played like a two year old with an oreo cookie waved in front of him. Worse, trump and or his cronies think they’re clever by timing stock bets and making millions of their fuckery.

Technically she’s still American. Just South American.

How much damage did he do while in?

There are several industries that run on 24 hour time outside of the military. Ocean shipping, aviation, and medical care off the top of my head. Want to throw a real wrench in the works? Start figuring Zulu time, especially when time changes happen at different times of the year in different countries or US states that don’t change at all.

Anyway, 24 hour time is so much easier. No making mistakes forgetting to select AM/PM when setting an alarm or reminder, for instance. Even converting it to 12 hour time takes no thought at all of you use it for a while.
