Political Discussion and Commentary@lemmy.world•do nice conservatives exist?English
11·8 days agoThe conservative “nice” is fake. You could follow all but one of their “rules” and they would still cast you down to hell because you dared to use a red pen instead of black pen one time 20 years ago.
There will always be something cast as “the other” because at this point rage is their only plan.
Still more coherent than what the Orange Cheeto can actually manage these days
They obviously never ran across the flamboyants before. Their words could give people 3rd degree burns

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I was a college athlete instead of accepting money out right. If I created a charity where they could "donate", and keep all the money? Is this illegal or illegal how so?English
5·1 month agoIn most countries charities have reporting requirements and rules to follow to stop exactly this method of fraud.

13·2 months agoDoesn’t matter if it’s the AI bubble or something else.
It will crash.
It will hurt lots of regular people. Even some “rich” people.
It will not hurt the ultra rich, they’ve rigged the game so they always win. They’ll be able to hoard even more wealth.
It’s gone downhill in some regards (enshittification for free accounts), but I’m still using Plex and plexamp for my audio setup. Works equivalent to a self hosted Spotify.
It’s focused on more and more of their content being built around distracted/“second screen” viewing.
Which is fair I think.
But I agree with you that it’s more a case of Netflix just following the trend, not setting it. Netflix have had a few standout hits that can be seen, the big movie example given is K-pop demon hunters, however I would counter that by saying given its nature as a musical style movie that heavy exposition in and out of songs is more warranted.
While it’s called paint thinner, perhaps it’s also reality thinner, allowing you to peer beyond the veil to see other realities
Should have gone with Danny DeVito.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Surpasses Elden Ring as the Most Awarded Game EverEnglish
8·3 months agoThey are very different games so do not take it as a falling on anyone’s part if you do not enjoy Expedition 33.
Get it through steam and if you’re not feeling it after 2 hours maybe refund. Or your can keep the purchase as a way to support the developers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Ignoring the internet bill itself, how many paid online services do you have?English
21·3 months agoAt this point, only Amazon prime, and only because of the free shipping and prime gaming free games (I just ignore video and music) Everything else is either adblock (YouTube) or questionably acquired (yarr!).
They (companies offering streaming services) had their chance and got greedy, so stopped paying for Netflix and Spotify years ago.
Not a subscription service, but I do buy PC games on Steam, and the occasional bit of physical media.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gaming on Arm chips didn't happen in 2025, but an epic battle with x86 CPUs is comingEnglish
14·4 months agoValves approach isn’t to bet on a particular instruction set. Instead they are focusing on emulation or translation layers. That way they don’t have to worry about what hardware you have or what OS you run, as long as you end up in steam.
Of course they are also print their own OS out there which has a few nice extras, but I don’t think they’ll ever make it a requirement.

Political Weirdos @lemmy.world•They always play victim afterwardsEnglish
5·4 months agoBecause it’s still useful to leave that out as it makes the story more of an outrage piece.
The Nazis want violence, that way they can justify even worse acts. Not that they need justification, they’l just keep getting worse anyway.
