I know people who make 50k per month and don’t have jets. I make 30k p/m but I’ll get there one day. It’s crazy how when I was broke making $20/hour in a cafe that I thought everyone or most people are broke but now I’m making modest money it’s crazy how many other entrepreneurs are in my circle now. Just wow.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•[meme] Trains -- not driverless cars -- are the future of transportationEnglish
305·3 years agoThat… is silly. Things need to move.
So you expect us to live in a virtual pod with a treadmill and grow all of our own food? And collect rainwater?
Edit: I’m not saying we shouldn’t reduce our need for freight. Growing food in your backyard (half of my yard is good production) reduces the need for freight emissions. And I cycle to work. But drive or fly on holidays, I wish we had a more reliable train network.
You can’t sleep with them because you have to work while they sleep and they work when you sleep if it’s 12 on 12 off
Ooops, I was only thinking about my own personal circumstances as a young adult who is single and new to full time employment.
I don’t care because there’s no real difference between 8h and 10h. Your whole day is basically gone either way. I don’t care if I’m working 8h or 12h. That extra 4 hours doesn’t make a difference. I’d rather have full days to set personal life goals and enjoy life than have to squeeze it in after work.
If you don’t mind me asking what industry? Sounds like security?
It would be cool seeing the same guy at the start and end of the day for 4 days straight, and them seeing you. The overlap from arriving a few minutes early would make for an interesting comradery.
I’d work 2x 12 hour days and 1x 14 hour day. Heck, I’d work 2x 19 hour days. Or work 38 hours straight in one shift?

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Which way looks more comfortable as you wait for your coffee?English
2·3 years agoThe top one. I’m tired and I’d rather rest on my car seat in the warm interior than on one of those wooden chairs. I ride bikes a lot, 5000 km per year and I advocate for walk ability but nothing beats a coffee in my warm car on a 6am commute where it’s 6°c outside

Thanks, I read Wikipedia for an hour a day and that was probably the most interesting biography yet. Mostly I just read about places around the world and musicians.

11·3 years agoYour choice. But you could go for a run instead of gaming or mow the lawn, make your front yard look nicer, start a YouTube channel or a website for some interest, learn to code and write a passion project, do some creative writing and publish your first 200 page novel; the list is endless. All of those things are work, but most things in that list are FUN. Sometimes downtime can be spent working. I spend my time reading and contributing to Wikipedia and supporting FOSS projects like this fantastic social media site! Because… this site doesn’t throw shit at me with intent to grab my attention with some advanced creepy algorithm. The code is publicly available. These fediverse socials are the only ones that aren’t extremely harmful.

I do this at the family dinner table
Not all people with autism are introverted
Are you trying to say that took no effort? Instrumental went hard and the talkbox would have taken some time to develop progression. Especially in the 90s, where digital music technology wasn’t widely available. Today, a song like that would be no big deal but at the time, “Around The World” was much ahead of its time.

Our goal is to peacefully encourage more people to cycle and convince car owners to use their car for less trips when viable to do so. A lot of people own cars, would calling them Nazis really help our cause?
My vision is we make cyclists and public transit users look like responsible happy citizens and attract jealousy of those stuck in traffic.
