In either case, you can have the ballot in front of you (either a sample ballot or a real ballot) and you are able take all the time you need to do your researching.

For someone to say that being able to research ballots ahead of time is an advantage of mail-in ballots suggests that there are people showing up polling places and realizing that they have no idea how they want to vote, resulting in them having to frantically research the issues and candidates on their phones at the polling booth or fill it out without being well informed. And that is worrying.
