Movies@lemmy.world•Recommend me your favorite "play" type movies!English
3·15 days agoThe Father, from the 2021 (?) Oscars comes to mind.
Amour (2013) by Hanecke, in a similar vein.
If you mean “Kammerspiel”-kinds of movies, i.e. small ensemble and minimal theatrics/environment.
God of slaughter as well.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•New cars sold in Norway, January&February 2026 (waffle chart)
7·23 days agoI know, and I also said I would add that source to my downloaded image.
But if and when people share plots like this, they seize to hold any real value if you can’t trace the data and check it’s veracity from the image itself
It’s a small addition to the plotting code that makes all the difference in not having the plot become an orphan.

71·23 days agoLove the chart overall, one nitpick I have though: Please consider putting a source (hyperlink ideally, otherwise citation-style info) at the bottom of the plot.
If people love your viz and download or share it, it becomes nigh-meaningless if the underlying data is not mentioned.
That being said, i will be sharing this around with your source stuck onto it, it’s pretty and pretty useful!

movies@piefed.social•What was your biggest movie let-down/disappointment ever?
2·3 months agoTrue, although I think that was not the first of its failings… There has been a lot of post-mortem analysis, some real gems among the video essays that got made on it, at least.

2·3 months agoTampopo, an 80s japanese movie about a woman attempting to become a great ramen cook, and more generally humans and their connection to food.
Funny, loose-thread (many small intermission stories), and feels to me like it spoofs or pays hommage to samurai and/or western movies.

3·3 months agoSuicide squad (
20182016) was a disaster and a tremendous letdown.Though that was clear by the time it actually hit cinemas, so more of a continuous descent from its first announcement to its actual release

2·3 months agoThat was last Jedi though, was it not? I never watched rise of Skywalker, the Luke story ended with him vanishing into the force at the end of last Jedi if I recall correctly.

3·3 months agoJust rewatched “the kings speech” last evening.
An impeccably well-made movie all around, and great performances. It does not really hit me on an emotional level, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship of everyone involved.
Wonder what’s going on with Tom Hooper and his track records… This, Danish girl, then Cats?

Profile pic checks out.
