Introducing Confluence Race Mode

Buckle up, Confluence fans!

Something cool is hitting your workspace! To celebrate our Atlassian Williams Racing partnership and ultra-fast speed improvements to Confluence, we’re rolling out a fun racing game during the Grand Prix in Las Vegas. Get ready to put your skills to the test and race around the track in a time trial experience.

Our team collaborated to bring the thrill of racing to your workspace with a custom racetrack and Formula 1-inspired icons. We’ve also included some fun facts on sticky notes, true to the creative look and feel of Confluence whiteboards. This is our first time ever rolling out a gaming experience in an Atlassian product, and we can’t wait for you to jump in, rev your engines, and play the game!

How do I play the game?

  1. Select the gear shift on the right side panel in whiteboards and click “Start time trial”.

  2. Wait for the red lights to go off, then use your keyboard arrows to race your car around the track, and see how fast you can go. Look out for fun facts and icons along the way!

  3. Share your results and challenge your teammates to beat your time so they can join in on the fun! The fastest times among you and your teammates will be featured on a leaderboard. Share your time on social media using #ConfluenceRaceMode and tag Atlassian for a chance to win swag.

Looking for an extra challenge? Williams Racing driver Alex Albon had a blast playing Race Mode, setting a groundbreaking time of 31.3 seconds. See if you can beat his best time!

What else is new in Whiteboards?

Whiteboards are built for real-time collaboration, so you can turn ideas into action without losing momentum. Along with the ultra-fast speed improvements in Confluence that inspired the game, we’ve also rolled out new features for Whiteboards, powered powered by Rovo AI. Now it’s easier than ever to move from brainstorming to creation.

Next-gen brainstorming with Rovo AI

  • Create with Rovo: Instead of starting with a blank page, let AI generate content for you using knowledge from your Confluence ecosystem. Rovo can gather historical context for ideas to inform your research plan. Or choose from various templates to get started faster.

  • Create diagrams: Describe your diagram, and Rovo will create and organize the shapes for you. Rovo creates mind maps and flowcharts, allowing you to effortlessly map out ideas. Rovo pulls from all sources your account has access to and refers to linked content for extra context.

  • Explore ideas: Rovo will take the contextual knowledge from your Confluence workspace to help you brainstorm relevant topics. After auto-generating ideas, Rovo can also cluster similar concepts to help you summarize themes.

How long will the game be available?

Race Mode will be available in Confluence whiteboards for a limited time, starting to roll out on November 18, 2025.

Play now

Ready, set, go! Head to whiteboards to play the game and see how fast you can go!

Interesting :) Reminds me of the Easter Egg that Microsoft put into Excel into Office 2000.

You could play a Spy Hunter (Dev Hunter) game... in Excel! :)

You drive a car and devs' names appear on the tarmac.

I wish it had stuck around longer!  We missed playing the game and wanted to have a fun challenge before the Thanksgiving holiday.  Bring it back!

As a non gaming person, I'm not ashamed to say that I was super slow 😂

Not a gamer, not a racer, but definitely a nice game to start the morning!

Hi! We look forward to start racing, but the gear is not available in our instance yet :) When do you think it will be rolled out to everybody?

Hello !
Same as Cornelia, we don't have this feature available.

I was about to create a blog post to share it to our users, this would have be the opportunity to share other Confluence Whiteboard use cases and user guides in our organization.

(we are following bundled changes, do we have to wait for the next Confluence release on our prod site?)

Hi @Cornelia Jeppsson and @Patrice Champet! So as not to be disruptive, we have opted to follow release tracks for this feature (this means if you follow a bundled track you will receive it early-mid December and if you follow a preview track you will unfortunately not get access to this feature) - you can request through support to have it turned on early if you don't want to wait!

Hi @Em Ditchfield ! But we are on the continuous track. Shouldn't we have already been getting it then?

Love the little racing game :)

I thought I found a large skip, landing times around 20.50 / 21 seconds, but turns out there's just a simple "you can't go faster than 20s" blocker. So fastest time possible is 20s flat, by just backing up over the finish line just when the timer goes to 20, too bad :(

Haven't managed to get it yet. 20.054s is my best yet.

So, I'm sure I didn't optimise my lap in any shape or form, but how exactly are you getting low 20s?
Am I missing some special boost button or something? :D

OK, I understand now. You can basically skip half the track. xD
