Linger 01:38
I’ll leave this bloody mess buried in the winter It’s like I’ve waited my whole life to cut off all my fingers I’ll let this linger
2.
Arrowhead 02:39
Got me tangled in ivy Like a smile with too much teeth Try to forget me, sudden death seems distant lately Sick and sunk i’ve used up all my luck What's the point in trying when I miss it all so much Arrowhead in the sky are you coming for my dreams tonight (Please, Please don’t take my life) Got caught scared now nothing ever seems quite right (Please, Please don’t wipe my mind) North star feels like forevermore (a bouquet of burnt bedside roses) Knocked down but i’m always coming back for more (you know i can’t quite keep focus) North star feels like forevermore Cursed me I fell in love with morning blues Everything is leading me right back to hating you Slowly on all the ones and twos Follow my directions as you tie your homemade noose (got me all tangled in ivy) Cursed me I fell in love with morning blues Everything is leading me right back to hating you Slowly on all the ones and twos Follow my directions as you tie your homemade noose (Sudden death seems much more likely)

Blue Jay 03:29
Please stay, sorry about all the rain you got downstate Nurturing a wasp sting, falling into dismay Blue jay, why'd you have to go and fly south so late Always take the long way, aren’t you going to miss May? Fleeting like a memory you’re drowning me in kerosene Ollie Ollie oxen free (you’re drowning me) You’re drowning me Please stay, aren’t you going to miss me? Swallowed by the south beach Can you hear my heart beat slowly (Northern downpour missed me) Listen to the birds sing Do they make you feel less lonely? (Heathers came to kill me) You’ll never me know if you want me to go Holding onto hope plant the seed of a rose Wash your mouth with soap, learn how to cope Leave me deep below reap what you sew Abandon all hope, burn holy ghost They’ll never let you know Burn the father son and holy ghost Tell me what you want from me Your drowning me in kerosene Ollie ollie oxen free you’re drowning me Swallowed by the south beach Can you hear my heart beat slowly (Northern downpour missed me) Listen to the birds sing Do they make you feel less lonely? (Heathers came to kill me)
4.
Swords Dance 02:58
Summers rotten corpse was bitten by a dead bee Waiting for the world to end Let nature run its course i know you’ll never find me So we’ll just play pretend So what'd you find after i asked you not to look a thousand times Just to realize it was right before your eyes the entire time Face down on the shore horizon slowly fading This feeling will never end Like dancing with two swords the solstice softly bleeding Until we finally transcend So what'd you find after i asked you not to look a thousand times Just to realize it was right before your eyes the entire time
5.
Medicine 02:24
Holding onto words in your mouth like a loaded gun Come a little closer deflate the oxygen in my lungs Say so (Say so) Little helpers wearing our own skin Stay close (Stay close) He’ll become a scholar of our sins Say it’s enough, Here’s a little taste of your medicine Say its enough, Like a knife on sunburnt skin Like a knife on sunburnt skin Skull crusher strip my bed Bury me inside my head A decade of disgust pull me out from this hellish hole If I ever come back, I’ll drop a smile to let you know Say so (Say so) Heres a little taste of your medicine (Say it’s enough) Stay close (Stay close) Like a knife on sunburnt skin (Say it’s enough)
6.
Scream 02:49
Graves of broken beaks In my yard of fallen leaves My windows on a killing spree Another dozen birds this week It really seems to get to me But I keep putting out more seed Fall asleep before you scream Cloudy eyes bathed in chlorine Sewing up my splitting seams It kind of seems to me We’re falling out of touch Oh so lost in our own lust You got me We’re falling out of touch Oh so lost in our own lust We’re falling out of touch Oh so lost in our own lust You got me
7.
Night 02:51
Clouds of insects swarm above your head A bad high reminding you of all the things ya did Do i bleed like the devil from your hell Did you drink the holy water from his well We can drive all night so you can see the northern lights Shoot down satellites cross my heart and hope to die The silence breaks but nothing seems to change Like hanging all our clothes in the pouring rain We can drive all night so you can see the northern lights Shoot down satellites cross my heart and hope to die We can drive all night so you can see the northern lights Shoot down satellites cross my heart and hope to die
8.
Rose Thorns 03:16
You’re always on my mind Rose thorns weave through my eyes Dull bloodshot blue skies Helplessly give you all my time A silver line so lost in my own lies Its been 5 days now since the skies been blue 6 long days since I last thought of you Falling in the lake Count the state signs to stay awake Don’t make me your last mistake Its been 9 days now since the skies been blue 10 long days since i last thought of you We failed by design The dull bloodshot blue skies Take all my time Roses weave through my eyes
9.
Watercolor 02:59
The sun will help you shed your skin Cause i know what you did last summer You’re almost half in Don’t let the undertow pull you under My memory is in watercolor Remember when we were young Do you miss being 21 Trigger finger on the tommy gun You’ll learn to love I’m running like a cat like thief Chasing a teenage dream My whole world is crumbling beneath I’m obsolete Take in the cloud until i start to spin You could be my new bloodletter My memory is in watercolor Remember when we were young Do you miss being 21 Trigger finger on the tommy gun You’ll learn to love I’m running like a cat like thief Chasing a teenage dream My whole world is crumbling beneath I’m obsolete We’re obsolete Cause I know what you did last summer We’re obsolete Cause I know what you did last summer
10.
Blink 02:09
I can never remember if it was you or me With some big idea death will do us clean And the words we wrote down all bathe in bleach We may as well be drinking gasoline Keep counting sheep I’ll sheer them clean Drink the blood I bleed You’re everything I need Every single night I die in my sleep Like a deer in the headlights you’ll run over me So try to remember to soak your hands in bleach And watch it burn down holding gasoline Keep counting sheep I’ll sheer them clean Drink the blood I bleed You’re everything I need
11.
Galick Gun 03:48
Feather falls off golden hour crushed by the sun Did you say you’re having fun Don’t you think we’ve had enough Fire in the sky witching hour black out the sun Try to hold on to this song it It might be the last one Dull blade will give you a slow start You’ll need wood and nails once you pull me apart Why ya look so scared don’t you know everyone doesn’t really care Why ya look so scared don’t you know everyone doesn’t really care I know you know the waters cold You got me feeling 6 feet below Say we put a gun to my head I take back everything I said I’d never do it again

about

VINYL & MORE: orcd.co/charmerdownpour

Hailing from Michigan’s rugged Upper Peninsula, American rock band Charmer will release their third album, and first in five years, Downpour, this spring. It's a bold reintroduction to a band that refuses to be boxed in; and has a sound as expansive as their hometown winters. Fusing the melodic intensity of bands like Alkaline Trio, Boxcar Racer, and the late 90s Long Island punk scene with the dreamy, melancholic vibes of The Cranberries and The Cure, Charmer delivers a uniquely nostalgic and refreshing collection that defies easy categorization.

Themes of growth, grief, and reflection abound, Downpour draws its thematic influence from personal losses, family dynamics, and life in the isolated UP. Vocalist/guitarist David Daignault reflects on monumental life shifts amidst a bittersweet pursuit of creativity, and dives deep into trauma and healing in the wake of new parenthood. There’s a definitive transition from their coming-of-age cult classics Ivy (2020) and Charmer (2018) to the introspection found throughout Downpour, making it a deeply real record for anyone facing the complexities of adulthood.

Downpour offers longtime Charmer fans a familiar sound while opening the door to an entirely new audience. Joined by guitarist Neil Berg, bassist Zack Alworden, and drummer Nick Erickson, Daignault’s soul-stirring vocal performance leads the band across a record that combines passion and precision. Across its eleven tracks, Downpour captures both the intensity of their past and the bittersweet blank page ahead.

Throughout, Downpour is a deeply human record about searching for meaning in life’s complexities. And there’s really no guarantee that Charmer will ever make another quite like it -– or at all. Regardless, it’s an album that makes an immediate and lasting impact, offering a powerful glimpse into who they are now and the unique environment that raised them.
