How can you earn through this program?

Ads revenue
Earn a share of the revenue every time an ad monetized by Spotify plays in your episode — both on Spotify and on any other listening platforms where your show is distributed.

All you have to do is mark where you want your ads to play, and we’ll do the rest, delivering targeted ads in your episodes so each of your fans gets an experience that is relevant to them.

Premium video revenue
Spotify Premium subscribers in select markets get to watch video episodes uninterrupted by dynamic ads, giving your audience a better viewing experience. And instead of earning ad revenue on those streams, you can earn based on how much they watch your content.

What is the eligibility criteria?

In order to be eligible to apply to monetize with this program, you need to be located in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or Australia, and your show needs to:

Be hosted and uploaded through Spotify for Creators
Have 10,000 streamed hours on Spotify in the last 30 days
Have been streamed by 2,000 unique Spotify users in the last 30 days
Have at least 12 episodes published

Offer more to fans with podcast subscriptions

Create exclusive content and build a community around your most loyal fans on Spotify. You can set up subscriptions directly on Spotify for Creators, or connect your existing membership platform such as Patreon or Substack to distribute your paid content to Spotify.

How can you earn with subscriptions?

Subscriptions through Spotify for Creators:
Monthly paid podcast subscriptions allow listeners to support creators directly in return for exclusive bonus content and perks. We’ll provide subscriber email lists, so you can take that connection even further and engage with your audience beyond the Spotify app.

External Membership Platforms:
If you work with one of our partner membership platforms, you can make your paid content available to your subscribers on Spotify. Fans on Spotify can easily authenticate their existing subscriptions to access your content.

What is the eligibility criteria?

Subscriptions through Spotify for Creators:
‍You need to be in an eligible market and:

Be hosted and uploaded through Spotify for Creators
Have at least 2 published episodes
Have been streamed by at least 100 unique Spotify listeners in the last 60 days

If you work with one of our partner membership platforms, you can check with them to see if the integration is available for your show.

My show is not currently hosted on Spotify for Creators.
Can I still use your monetization tools?

The Spotify Partner Program and podcast subscriptions on Spotify are available to shows hosted with Spotify for Creators.

Any creator who uses an external membership platform we partner with are able to connect and distribute their content to Spotify regardless of hosting platform.

Where is the Spotify Partner Program available?

The Spotify Partner Program is only available for eligible creators in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Support for more markets is coming soon.

Where are podcast subscriptions available?

Podcast subscriptions through Spotify for Creators are currently available to all creators who host with us and their listeners in 34 markets:
North America: USA, Canada
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Asia Pacific: Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore

Creators may also connect external membership platforms we partner with to distribute their paid content on Spotify.

What does it mean to connect an external subscription?

We partner with select membership platforms (e.g., Patreon, Substack, Supporting Cast) to enable distribution of your paid podcast to Spotify so your paying subscribers can access and discover your content on more listening platforms.

How much will I earn if I’m a part of the Spotify Partner Program?

You’ll earn 50% of the revenue recognized for each ad placed on your show if that ad was monetized by Spotify. The revenue for each ad will vary based on the advertiser, but you can monitor your estimated earnings in the Analytics page on Spotify for Creators once approved for the program. Earnings will be subject to any transactional fees. Depending on where you’re based, for any video episodes that Spotify Premium subscribers in select markets stream uninterrupted, you can earn based on how much your content is streamed.

You will keep all the revenue from your deals for baked-in host reads within your episodes.

Will the ads from the Spotify Partner Program play beyond Spotify?

Yes, ads can play on and beyond Spotify. Ads served to fans on Spotify will be delivered via Spotify's proprietary Streaming Ad Insertion technology, which enables precise and transparent podcast advertising.

Will ads from the Spotify Partner Program still play in other markets?

Listeners in countries where the Spotify Audience Network, which powers the ads in the Spotify Partner Program, is available may hear ads on your show wherever you insert ad breaks.

How is the pricing of podcast subscriptions on Spotify determined?

Creators who host their show on Spotify for Creators and use our Spotify subscription tool are free to choose which preset pricing tier options work best for them, and switch their subscription prices as needed.

Creators who set up a subscription using an external subscription platform (e.g., Patreon, Substack, Supporting Cast) may set their own pricing, and their options are dependent on what that platform offers for them. How will I know when I qualify for different monetization options
or if they are available in my country?

Check the “Monetization” page in Spotify for Creators to see the different options available in your country and which ones you qualify to use.

I use Megaphone for hosting. Can I still join the Spotify Partner Program?

We are currently allowing select publishers to join the Spotify Partner Program through Megaphone. If you are a current or future Megaphone publisher and would like to learn whether you are eligible to join the Spotify Partner Program, please reach out to your Megaphone representative.

How do I know if Spotify for Creators or another Spotify platform
like Megaphone is best for me?

Megaphone is Spotify's enterprise podcasting platform. Megaphone could be a good fit for creators who have more than one show, manage their show with multiple team members, and/or require advanced monetization tools to support their business. Learn more about the plans available here.
