Corporate lawyers doing their thang, or is there a twist to this one?
Everything I know is included here. Pretty sure it’s a blind DMCA and they are unaware of the damage this will do to the brand.
So yeah, corporate lawyers & headless chickens need the right legal pushback and hopefully, retribution? Either or, I’m working on a community update which will feature this, plus some notes upon this particular variety of bullshit; thank you.
Wasn’t there a copyright case with Dave Sim and Marvel about fair use and parody? He won and the next cover was a full parody of the marvel hero frame from Spider-Man? I can’t find any example of it but I remember it being a thing 30+ years ago.
Cerebus was a brief obsession of mine in the… late 80’s / early 90’s? As I recall it, he specifically went out of his way to parody and piss-off any number of IP’s, and in fact went on to be a super-good influence / pioneer upon future alt-comix in general. Despite being… well, he’s a bit debatable as a person, I guess. Anyway, he had a bunch of lawsuits upon a lot of people / properties, IIRC.

Full disclosure, I have almost every issue of Glamourpuss. When he wasn’t being him he was doing an awesome job on the history of photo realism in comics and the death of Flash Gordon artist Alex Raymond.
But it was also filled with a lot of Dave Sim’s problems.
