Some people are convinced that everything around Apollo was fake. What do these kinds of people now believe about the Artemis program?
Just for the record: Artemis II will not perform a moon landing, allegedly or otherwise. This mission is purely for testing the long term suitability of the life support system, as well as the lunar injection procedure.
It’s basically the same mission profile as Apollo 8.
I guess they’ll prove once again that lunar missions are staged: Because that’s how rockets past a certain size works. Nobody has build a functioning single-stage-to-orbit yet, let alone an SSTM
Yeah it seems everyone thinks they’re landing on the moon this mission. Even the news imply it saying they’re on their way to the moon.
Well, to be fair, the are going to the moon, as they’re entering orbit around it.
I guess you could say they’re going to the moon in the same way I’m going to a friend’s house, even if I’m just going to stomp around in his yard before going home.
The Artemis program does include a moon landing, just not this trip. News media should probably clarify that bit.
They won’t enter orbit. They’re doing a flyby which basically means they’ll whip around the far side and then head for earth. Here is a picture of the mission profile:
