Circumcision is and should only be a medically necessary procedure. I’ve never heard anyone say medically necessary circumcision is mutilation, but I’m from Europe where most men aren’t circumcised, so there’s that. Whoever says it’s mutilation when it’s medically justified is ignorant.

2·1 day agoImagine pulling a strawman out of your ass while disregarding what I said. I didn’t say the kid should stop playing instruments. I said get him some headphones so that all the noise is contained to his ears. Or rent/buy him a place to practice. If you live in a building, you have a certain responsibility towards the rest of the inhabitants that share the living space with you.

3·2 days agoYes! They (or at least the SAHM) are rich assholes who could have bought a house, but instead chose to buy an apartment in a building so the breadwinner’s job is 5 min away. They let the kid play with the windows open so the entire neighborhood can enjoy the sounds of the same 10 notes on repeat.

121·2 days agoHas it occurred to you I don’t live alone and would like to hear my partner? Or should I adjust all the time to someone else’s whims when they could reduce their noise towards all inhabitants of the building?

73·2 days agoYour comment is disingenuous at best. How would you like to listen to a kid trying to learn the same 3 songs for a year, almost every day, and failing at note 10 each time? Why is my moment of peace after work so valueless that it can’t be respected with a SMALL change of the kid using headphones to reproduce the sound of his instruments? I’m not saying
don’tstop. I’m saying have the common sense to understand your child isn’t the next Mozart and put some headphones on him. I already can’t enjoy a nice sunny day on the weekends on my balcony without them running and screaming above me. At least give me a break after work.(edit: incorrect double negation)

95·2 days agoI do agree with you as a childfree person who doesn’t like children. Most of the time I blame/hate their parents instead. Like the parents of the kids upstairs. One of them has a “band”. For the past year he’s been trying to learn 3 songs almost every day in the evening. It’s incredibly annoying to listen to this musically untalented kid when I’m tying to relax. Put some goddamned headphones on him, for fuck’s sake.

To expand a bit, it comes from a Proto-Slavic word which was used for foreigners in general, but mostly to refer to Germans. It’s also why most (all?) Slavic languages have basically the same word for German(s)/Germany, similar-sounding to the modern Russian one.

13·9 days agoThe cost of living varies a lot not only from country to country, but from city to city within the same country. But yes, it’s the safety net that we have here. You don’t go bankrupt if you have a medical emergency, your health care insurance isn’t tied to your job, child support is better (varies by country), worker rights are stronger (varies by country, but on average it’s better than the US), secured paid maternity leave, vacations, sick leave, etc. Generally speaking, if you live in Europe but work for a US company, you basically hit a lottery. As a software dev, at least.

43·21 days agoI run multiple containers from a single dev, and I could switch to someone else’s images, but it’s a hassle. Once I ran into an issue, I realized the sole support is provided on Discord. Which, whatever, I think it’s awful because it’s not openly searchable on the internet, but it’s his choice. However, what I found extremely dumb is ALL announcements, changelogs, including breaking changes, are posted exclusively on his Discord server. Nowhere else. And he acts all pissy about people stumbling into the server for help and not finding the exact announcement, and being trigger happy with the bans. I get people being dumb and not reading basic instructions, but this goes beyond that. Your whole fucking operation is on a closed Discord server with subpar search function.

Firefox@fedia.io•Split View in Firefox: Two tabs side by side, right where you need themEnglish
10·22 days agoDepends on your workflow. I find this feature useful when I have multiple tabs open and need to switch between them, but also need two different sites open side by side. If I switch a lot between the tabs, having two windows open becomes annoying pretty fast as I want my main window to be maximized. This is a non-issue if my second monitor isn’t being used for something else, but it often is.
You wrote you “couldn’t find any instructions on where to get the necessary files or how to do it”. I just provided the info where one can find the wiki with the instructions (among other info), and the link to the repo with other versions beside arm64-v8a. That is all.
I use HeliBoard myself and love it. Lots of customization and glide typing works as well as on other keyboards.
The instructions are on their Github wiki, the link to which can be found in the About section of HeliBoard Settings, for anyone who’s curious.

Ah, now I get it, thanks 😂
