I really don’t understand the reasoning. Obviously wine works only on Linux, it converts Windows calls to Linux… And there are Windows devs targeting proton compatibility specifically?! In my opinion proton could somehow helps devs realizing that there could be a Linux market but that doesn’t go further than that.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it so hard to get Nvidia GPUs working with Linux?
10·7 months agoIt’s not, today it works flawlessly, every distro has a simple way to install the proprietary drivers. It’s just stories from people repeating a very old song that has no anchor in today’s reality.

1·8 months agoI’m confused, what makes you think it’s a honeypot?
Just quoting the readme so there’s no misinterpretation:
This is an independent project, not at all affiliated with BigTech or any of their subsidiaries or tax evasion tools, nor any political activists groups, state actors, etc. It’s explicitly free of any “DEI” or similar discriminatory policies. Anybody who’s treating others nicely is welcomed. It doesn’t matter which country you’re coming from, your political views, your race, your sex, your age, your food menu, whether you wear boots or heels, whether you’re furry or fairy, Conan or McKay, comic character, a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri, or just a boring average person. Anybody who’s interested in bringing X forward is welcome.

How many time do you need to repeat it over the post?
No hoping needed anymore once you landed on a Arch base!
You’ve got that https://jl710.github.io/iced-guide/index.html Most importantly in there there’s the discord link, that’s where lots of iced knowledgeable people are these days.
F-droid… We still can’t schedule send emails on Android. The new Android app isn’t any better. There’s a very long way to go.

Linux@lemmy.ml•is there a download manager for Linux that just works?
1·2 years agoI simply copy the link, click in uGet and it gets it from the clipboard. But I believe there’s a Firefox uGet add-on for complete integration.

I’m confused, so if there’s no swap, what is the system doing given enough RAM? What’s the impact?
So it’s not not having swap that makes the system “less optimal” but not having enough RAM if I understand correctly?
Why does not having swap make the system less optimal? Considering obviously it has more than enough ram available.
