Social Democrats. Like in Portugal, don’t let the name trick you. Just as North Korea is also not a Republic or Democratic.

This is one of those times when Lemmy users act like they are different and better than everyone else. But it doesn’t take a lot of time to find people being toxic on Lemmy.
Hell, I started to sporadically use Instagram again because of friends and - at least in regards to what I see - it’s a much happier less toxic place than this. Not great, plenty of things I could criticize, but I can handle being there a lot longer. But everyone just wants to throw blame at corps and judge themselves free of any wrongdoing. Same behavior as when it comes to climate and environmentalism.
This place started with the intent of being different and better than reddit, but now it’s almost indistinguishable in terms of user behavior and attitude. Everything is an argument, everything is a fight, everyone knows better than everyone else and acts condescendingly.

Do you ever look yourself in the mirror? You keep misrepresenting what other people are saying and being an ass, but in another comment you complain it’s impossible to have a conversation with someone because they are being scornful.
I’m guessing this is why you have a new account; probably banned a lot for being a dick.

Most plots I see nowadays in memes/social critics look like this, or even worse. Either it’s all AI, or people don’t know how to make/label graphs anymore.

I see a lot of people wishing harm on the guy. Do you guys even know anything about him? Because it seems you are all wishing him the worse just because of who his dad is. Shouldn’t need saying that that is extremely fucked up.

It’s more so that there were already studies about this, I think. I had also heard about this years ago.
I think it’s the kind of thing people don’t retain because they don’t like it. Cars and the “freedom” they give are still very romanticized.

Most comments here to have the wrong idea.
They are liberal, soc-dem at best. Saying they are socialist, is like saying the people’s republic of north Korea is a republic for the people.
In Portugal the president is mainly just a figure head, the parliament are the ones making laws and having an actual effect.
The parliament is majority right wing (right of this guy’s party).

Same. I try to do my best with the time given to me, but there’s only so much you can do when deadlines are constantly being pushed on you. And when you’re done you just get moved to another project. Fast forward some months, they need changes done to the previous project and it takes longer than it should because there was no time to make it right.

Wouldn’t India and Bangladesh, for example, be worse? In summer they get heat waves above 50º C, and I know there’s at least a river in Bangladesh that is being flooded by salt water , and agriculture is becoming impossible. And a lot of people have been dislocated as well in the last decade because of the rising waters.

Unfortunately I’m not that young. I’m at a point where I would like to have my own place, find someone, get married, maybe have kids in a few years. But I don’t have the money, and much less the work/life balance necessary. There’s been a couple of times where a girl asked if I have my own place, and it always hurts to answer.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with either Uber or Netflix. They are, in theory, good services that people find useful. Greed and capitalism are what ruin it.
I’d much rather be able to request a driver through an app with a pre arranged price, than call for a cab which uses an an easily exploitable system that is often use to rip off people (especially people from outside the area). The only problem is that the driver’s get paid like crap.
And streaming is obviously superior to TV

I never doubted you care about Palestine, I’m just pointing how you can care about other stuff at the same time - good or bad. It seemed you were implying I can’t care it because I’m calling out animal abuse. All is not black or white, but animal abuse is a pretty large line to cross. I was mostly ok with the left not criticizing him and ignoring him when he acted like a douche because it wasn’t worth the trouble I suppose, but animal abuse should be called out. And when he and his fans go around gaslighting people - and you even have “leftist” streamers (if they aren’t just clout chasers) contradicting each other trying to defend him - it’s even more important to call it out and not let it be swept under the rug. Especially since the right can also seize the opportunity to take the moral high ground. I’ve even seen “apolitical” people calling it out and mocking it, but the few leftists who even mention it do it with kid’s gloves.
Anyway, I don’t remember exactly what my first comment here even was, but the gist of my point is: the dude abuses his dog and tries to gaslight people, we can care about multiple stuff, this shouldn’t just be ignored, I think other leftists should at least condemn and call it out instead of looking away while others try to bury it. That’s all.

I wasn’t saying you specifically, but funny how “there is a genocide going on” is the same crap he says to deflect. I can give a shit about more than one thing at once.
This is not overshadowing political discourse. We can talk and care about more than one thing at once. And who is the “you” and the “us” in this case? And who says I don’t care if a right winger kills their dog? Everything you say is some version of whataboutism.
What if instead of animal abuse, he assaulted someone? What if it was sexual assault? What if he murdered someone? Where is the line at which point we are allowed to talk about it and condemn it? When does it go so far you can’t deflect it with “there’s a genocide”?
Let me turn that on you; you have comments on your account in the last month talking about tech and cars. How can you talk about that when there’s a genocide going on?
And yes, you should fully reject a fucking abuser, it has nothing to do with their politics. I already told I’m a leftist and I can do it, so you can to. Stop protecting a fucking abuser.

In answer to what you’re saying, firstly, I find it fucked up to call it identity politics. People don’t want animals to be abused, and so they call it out and post about it like they do for other news.
Anyway, I’m a leftist. I don’t really consume right wing media and I don’t engage with those communities. And as a leftist it hurts me to see other leftists give a pass to someone like Hasan because it’s just giving ammo to people on the right, and when it’s such a large community it can make a big stain and push new people out. Not to mention no one should be given a pass. Like, Hasan fans will literally bend over backwards to defend it and act like a cult. Dude has already made several excuses and finally landed on “she wasn’t even wearing a collar”, even though you can see it in the vod; but if you post screenshots his fans will say it’s photoshopped. I’m not good enough with words to convey my feelings on this phenomenon and my distaste for those people. There’s more to mention, but this comment is large enough.
Finally, in answer to your last paragraph, it’s a fair point in general, but in my case I’m a vegan.

Brother, you are delusional. You can see her paws clearly and there’s no hint of her dew claw getting caught anywhere, and this “work” he is doing is talking to an audience that would have no issue with him interacting with his dog. And you’re still ignoring everything else. Stop defending animal abuse.

She yelps in pain and he doesn’t even check on her. He coincidentally was reaching out of frame just as it happens. And there’s more clips of him reaching out when she leaves the bed, after which she goes back. There’s also a clip showing the remote, and he keeps contradicting not just himself but friends who try to defend him. That, and more.
Even if you don’t consider shock collars abusive, it’s clear he is abusing her by forcing her to be in a corner for hours on end, without even water.
Stop running defence for this dude just be cause he says he’s a leftist.

This is pretty much it.
Unfortunately, the left can only blame itself for it.
This would be a non issue if people on the left actually called it out and didn’t just constantly defend this guy. And they could have stepped ahead of the situation by calling it out themselves.
The motto in Hasan’s community seems to essentially be: “No Gods, no masters, yes daddy”; and the rest of the left kind of just looks away.

There’s no fucking debate, dude. It sickens me to see so many people try to defend this, and that the dude is so popular in leftist circles. That’s why it should be an outrage. I’m sick of seeing leftists prop up this dude and ignore/defend any bad he does, especially now with animal abuse.
The dog moved out of bed, he got annoyed at her, reached out of screen, and she yelped. Since then people have found other clips of similar stuff happening: his dog staying in the same spot for hours, and when she tries to leave or reposition he reaches out of screen and she goes back. And the remote can even be spotted in some streams before he hides it.
Even if you don’t think shock collars themselves are bad, forcing a dog to stay in such a small place for hours without even a water bowl amounts to abuse. And his constant lies and contradictions show that knows what he is doing is fucked.

I was enjoying Avowed a lot but got a bit disappointed after reaching the second area/city, lost a lot of steam and haven’t picked it up again in a while.
I was trying to roleplay a certain kind of character, one who didn’t like the idea of messing with soul essence and agreed with the empire about disallowing it, only to be forced to accept it and take in an expert on the the topic to help her perform experiments. Really dampened my experience.
I’m not sure if that’s what you mean, but I’m just saying they are objectively not socialists, whether they resist fascists or not.
On a side node, really nice to see the comment spreading missinfo being up voted while apparently I got down voted for saying something objectively correct… This really is just reddit now
